Ranma, AKA Sosumu Wildstar, woke up in his familiar bunk aboard the Yamato. This good ship had been his home ever since it had been retrofitted under the ocean floor for spaceflight and embarked on the trip to Iscandar. Yamato had been a ship of war in WWII, but this time it was fighting for all of Earth and mankind instead of just one nation.
Which either means that the animators of the original series either wanted to somehow redeem the Yamato, or good ol' Nihon was still mighty sore over the whole surrender thing even thirty years after.
Sosumu shrugged. It didn't matter now. This ship had became the ship of hope for Earth. The only hope, for the Gamilon empire had made short work of the Earth's space fleet when they came barging into the solar system in 2199. They lobbed planet bombs at the Earth, turning it from a green, life-supporting world into a radioactive desert wasteland. Sorta like Hiroshima and Nagasaki all over the entire Earth.
One good thing about the Gamilon war is that all the surface water evaporated.
That means no more Jyuusenkyo, if it ever existed in this universe. Happy!
Of course, the fact that they had to live underground and the surface had been rendered a radioactive wasteland was kind of a drag.
But no more Jyuusenkyo! Happy!
Sosumu shook his thoughts free. The Yamato was on a vital mission for Earth!
