In Tibet, 1,500 years previously, there had been two schools of martial arts that had feuded to the point where three practitioners had been left. An even more ancient school of martial arts had seperated into two paths and a final battle between the two had left the clans and the communities involved poised on extinction.
The Fist Of The Sun God was a school based on positive ki, positive karma, and energy. The School practiced healing arts, was well respected by the community prior to this last battle, and was said to be able to produce miracles such as growing crops faster. The nature of this Art brought the best out of the students who practiced it. The practitioners lived long and healthy lives until this latest battle had left only two of their number alive - and those were junior students.
The Dark Hand Of The Void was the companion school. It was based on negative ki, destruction, death, and suffering. This Art brought the worst qualities of its practitioners to the fore. The School practiced the art of assassination, and the practitioners were said to be able to kill or cripple with a touch, or to blight an entire field of crops by simply walking past them. The practitioners lived for battle and to become stronger, though their numbers were never great and they lived in the shadows. A conflict within them had cut those numbers by half, and the remainder were led into battle with the Sunfist practitioners. After the battle there was left only one of the Dark Hand surviving.
The three survivors made their way with the secrets of the schools to the fabled Pit, to finally resolve the rift between the schools. Two teenagers barely out of childhood, and one who was still a child herself.
When they were done, the Sunfist practitioner died with his heart ripped from his body. The Dark Hand assassin managed a step towards the child before the final manuever of the Sunfist practitioner caused her body to ignite from within.
The little girl took the secrets scrolls of the two styles and leapt into the pit. Hers is the voice of the girl-child.
Many styles had been sealed within the Pit. These were just two of them. Not all the styles were as powerful, and some were lost and well deservedly so. Yet Fate had decreed that the two schools had failed their final resolution and so they had to meet one final time.
Ranma, at age 11, was now the sole practitioner of the Sunfist. Elsewhere, someone would now dream of the Dark Hand and begin practicing its moves.
Ranma found he had only one particular move of the school down - Font Of Renewal. With the sun's warming embrace, he could pull positive ki into his "ocean" at the pit of his belly - renewing his reserves. From there he would be able to increase the ki flow through his body and break down the limiters of his pressure points. Later stages of the manuever would give him the ability to banish disease and speed the healing of injuries beyond his already high natural recovery rate.
More would come later, bubbling up from his consciousness at need. Knowledge of pressure points and ki flows and the ability to judge the state of the souls of others by glancing at their "flame". Knowledge of herbs and medicine and techniques to not only heal others but to improve their lives or give pleasure.
For now he was just busy dodging as black lightning ripped the ground at his feet and his genies scattered.
Wiseman saw a chance and was ready to destroy this impertinent boy when:
