She was reading fan mail.
Oh, there was some of it that was just plain wrong. Some of it was nearly incomprehensible despite the scan-translate function on her PC. Some of it though - was sweet and sincere and touched her heart.
Hotaru liked that. She hadn't been able to give her schoolgirl crush a love letter on her own, but here were dozens of boys writing her!
Minako seemed to float by her in a daze, so overcome with her OWN fanmail that she might not notice if armored insects stormed the building.
Ami, Makoto, and some of the others were distracted by the various magical girl groups out there. Some of whom had attacks that could only be considered lame. Others, however, were most definitely not.
Luna stared as the commercial played.
SCENE: Street in a modern city. Leathern wings flap as a group of demonic yoma land ungracefully. One drools acidic green bile as he points at a crowd.YOMA: "Humans! We feed well tonight! Break their bodies and feast upon their souls!"
FEMALE VOICE: "I don't think so."
SCENE: Yoma looking around briefly. One finally points up and to the side. Camera follows to see a young girl in a short skirted uniform.
FEMALE VOICE: "Citizens of the Empire are valued and not a food source! SUMMONING!"
SCENE: Magical circle appears in midair. Glowing white shape extrudes from magic circle, glow fading to reveal a giant robot. Magical Girl Cop leaps up and lands in the command chair, which is then hidden from view by armor plating if the way the demon-fired spikes bouncing off it is any indication.
SCENE: Closeup of yoma looking nervous.
YOMA: "Uhm. Magical girls with giant robots with really damn big guns? Is that a Spiritual charge gathering at the muzzle? Oh gee, sorry, we must have the wrong planet. We'll just be going now."
SCENE: Yoma fleeing in stark screaming terror.
SCENE: Giant robot transforms into a fighter jet that goes screaming off in pursuit. Magical girl is briefly visible at the controls.
VOICEOVER: "Want to protect the human race, save lives, and pilot exotic mecha? Join the Magical Girl Defense Force! Work towards a scholarship or simply take advantage of the benefits. See your local recruiting office for details!"
"How come some magical girls get fighter planes that transform into giant robots and we don't?" Usagi reasonably asked Luna.
"We don't need giant transforming mecha," stated Luna, though she didn't sound completely sincere.
"They had an interview earlier with some Magical Mao-Chan. She gets a magic TANK," stated Artemis.
"Whose side are you on?" hissed Luna.
