And as they walked around the city, they saw a boy of about their age getting yelled at.
Normally it wouldn't have meant much to them, but it was something that Ranma overheard that made them stop.
"But it'll be an adventure..," the little boy whined.
The older woman, who looked to be his grandmother didn't look appreciative of the sentiment. "One that'll get you into trouble. That old place has been abandoned for decades, since the last of that family left in the middle of the night!"
"So..? It means that no one'll worry about us goin' in, right?"
"Wrong! I will! That place hasn't been right since it's been built. I remember my grandmother warning me to stay away from that place when I was your age. She told me that he had gone around the world collecting things, and that it was said that not all of the things he brought back were nice..."
"Mom says that's a lot of super-station..."
"That's 'superstition' and our mother wouldn't know what that is. If anything, with all the stories coming out about that place, something has to be haunting that place."
"Aww..," he sulked.
"Don't you act like that. You're not going up that hill and that's final!" she told him, jabbing her finger in a direction, "And your mother will agree with me, if for no other reason than the fact that the house is probably falling apart."
"Oh... okay..."
As the boy was led away by his grandmother, Ranma looked to his kitty and grinned. "A haunted house?! Cool!"
Hotaru smiled back. "Nyaaa! Ghosties!"
"You know what this means. We'll have to check this out. I mean, someone has to right?"
"Uh-huh!"
"We'll be the boy detective with his helper kitty!"
"Nyeeess!"
"Alright! Let's go then!"
She nodded, and followed in his path as they followed the way the old woman had pointed, while:
