Finally the lid gave way to his force and was blown off, revealing red light. Ranma sat up and almost lost his lunch at what he saw. He was in a coffin, floating in a river of blood that was bordered by screaming corpses, whose dead bodies were stained red. He looked down into the blood and occasional saw what he saw as a soul trying to reach up for him, but was always stopped by the water.
"Where am I?" He asked mainly to himself, but he was answered.
"Mortal, you find yourself at the river Styx."
He turned and saw a skeleton standing on the bloody river, its legs not even making ripples in the blood. His guide couldn't be found, but he turned back to the new person that showed up. It was a skeleton, but it wore a suit and the holes representing the mouth and eyes were shaped evilly. He was reminded of that one American cartoon he saw with his daughter.
"Jack Skeleton, the Pumpkin King" Ranma muttered out loud but quickly covered his mouth, from the power of this guy, he did not want to piss off this guy, but to his surprise the skeleton just laughed.
"That's alright. I have many names as I've traveling the mortal plane many times. I am the guardian of the river Styx and only the dead may pass without trial." Jack said as he flicked some lint off his shoulder. Ranma gulped, but before he could say something a shape rose out the blood behind Jack. The blood parted before it to reveal a skeletal dragon whose bones were stained red. It opened it's maw to consume the not caring Jack and before Ranma could say anything Jack's arm blurred and the bone dragon fell to pieces and Ranma could see what he held in his hand.
Jack held a massive bone axe that was completely made out of bone, even the handle. The blade itself was shaped somewhat like an oar. Ranma was awed, this guy was fast. Jack cracked his neck, unconcerned about what he just destroyed. "Are you ready for your trail? If you are, just stand up out your coffin."
Ranma did so. "I'm ready" Anything for his daughter he told himself. Jack smiled, but it was hard to tell as the skeleton always smiled. "All you have to do is jump into the river of blood and retrieve your guide. She's at the bottom of the river trapped in a coffin just like yours" Ranma gulped and looked down into the blood where more souls had gather and where begging him to help them. "Anything for my daughter" He said as he did a swan dive into the blood to rescue his guide.
Jack only stared at the spot Ranma entered the blood, this mortal was interesting, he thought and with a haunting laugh he descended into the blood himself.
===================================================
She woke up, it was cold in the bed. Her husband was gone and she missed his warmth. She sighed as she removed his shirt from her grip. His scent always did help her calm down, especially with him in hell trying to rescue their child. She left the empty bedroom and went through her empty house. She saw a dent in the wall and remembered when their wild child of a daughter was running through the house with her father chasing her in a game a tag. Her daughter not looking where she was going ran right into the wall.
Both parents stopped with worry, but only chuckled when the little girl stood up, shook her head and continued running , shouting a challenge to her father. She grinned at the memory. "She is her father's daughter." She got dressed and locked up the house before heading to work. Because of her husband, they never had to worry about money, but she loved to teach elementary school, because she loved children very much.
The thought of children almost made the tears break free, she wouldn't cry, because if she did so, then she has given up hope of ever seeing her little wild child again. Her husband has promised to bring her back so he will, that is a given. Ranma Saotome's word is golden. Nothing will stop him. Cheered up slightly she continued on her way to work. Her class was doing tie dye shirts today. She went on her way, unaware of the fact something was watching her in the shadows.
"Ranma Saotome, you will pay!"
