“I was thinking of giving her another of those demonic sexual essences,” the wizard explained.
“Why would you do that?” Shinji asked in disbelief. “Don't you think you've enough damage?”
“Listen to me, boy!” the wizard snapped back. “You'll get nowhere if you never learn to listen to people, Mr. Ikari.”
“All right,” Shinji breathed. “I'll listen.”
“Okay, let me explain.” The wizard uncrossed his arms from around his chest and leaned forward on the counter. “You see, as a succubus, a female sexual demon, she is physically suited to feed off of men. She can feed from women, but she would find that she can only get a little of her victim's energy, as intercourse is required to get to what lies deep within a person.”
Rei raised an eyebrow as she listened to the wizard's explanation. “So what you're saying is that she'd need to be a man in order to feed off the beings she prefers,” she deducted.
“Exactly!” the wizard exclaimed. “By giving her a male side, she could see what it was like on the other side, and at the same time indulge in her true sexual preference from time to time.”
“Of course, she could just go even more nuts being a guy part of the time,” Shinji pointed out.
“There is that risk,” the wizard conceded. “However, the risk in just letting her run loose is far greater.”
“Yeah, suppose so,” Shinji agreed with a sigh. “Man, if only it were a little easier...”
“Master,” Rei said coolly. “We don't have much in the way of options.”
“I know,” Shinji confirmed in a frustrated voice. “I just don't wanna mess Maya up any more than she already is.”
“Understood, Master. But we have to stop her before she kills again.”
Shinji shook his head softly, letting out a sigh as he did. He had two options before him. He could either leave and try to think of something else, potentially sentencing many a man to death, or take the wizard's help and potentially drive Maya into a suicidal rage. He eventually reached a decision, deciding he had to be the one to make the call here. He slowly opened his mouth to speak.
