Professionals Name: Ranma Saotome Rank: Archmage Specialty: Generalist Cert# 0000012701 Renewal Date: 3/1999 |
As he was not a worthy heir of Anything Goes (and he made far more money to be able to send his father a stipend), Genma had never brought it up and a major source of stress and anger had been removed from four lives.
Yet he had run across the three Tendo daughters, and it had been Kasumi who had found a reference to wizardry and sought a cure for an affliction to something that had happened to her youngest sister.
Akane had been engaged to Tatewaki Kuno when Hikaru Gosunkugi had come up with some paper dolls from one of those "one trick" magical street vendors. This was followed later by a boy named Ryoga Hibiki trying to free Akane by using a magical koi rod. This was followed in turn by a pair of boys named Hiroshi and Daisuke finding a magical mirror.
Akane had gushed enthusiastically about one boy after another and had quite obviously been hit with so many charm spells that she was in a perpetually befuddled state. As an Archmage, Ranma had been able to deal with the enchantments easily enough. He'd had to pen some more Dispel Magic and Remove Curse scrolls after dealing with it, but he had sufficient raw power to break one after another.
By the time he'd come downstairs, this time with a focussed and seethingly angry Akane (not that Ranma was the target nor did he blame her for wanting to break heads and limbs of certain other boys) - Kasumi had already been cleaning his living quarters and had a vegetable stir fry ready for dinner.
He'd hired her to work off the fees that Akane had built up. It allowed him more time in his studies and working potential sources of revenue. Not to mention he could keep his Continuing Education credits up, a necessary part of his licensure.
"Mister Saotome?" Kasumi asked as Ranma entered. "I was picking up the mail and there was a word of a potential client."
"Ah," said Ranma. Well, he could pick or choose cases - though he'd had to develop a form letter to send off for those cases best handled by a normal private investigator or someone who specialized in another branch of the so-called 'paranormal.'
