Now he had a chance to see a real live humanoid!
"Do you mind turning around?"
Pewter retreated into the bush, blushing heavily.
"Let me guess, 'harmless woodland creature' disguise, right?" asked the woman's voice.
Pewter nodded. How had she figured out he wasn't normal for this area? His disguise was perfect!
"You can look now," said the woman's voice, a degree of mirth being apparent.
Pewter looked to see the humanoid still shrugging on and buckling clothing.
"First off," shared the female. "'Harmless woodland creatures' don't blush when they see a nearly naked member of a completely unrelated species. Second, wild horses don't look groomed. They certainly don't respond to voice commands like that. Unless you're a 'horse talker' which I am not. Then there's your coloration and size."
Pewter went over to the surface of the pond to try and examine himself. Had he messed up that badly?
"Look," said the girl. "I don't mind if you want to keep an eye out for me. Just let me know you're there, okay? I'm going to be in these woods for awhile until the others join up with me. Might be a week or so. I wouldn't mind having someone to talk to. Now get going. I've got a shelter to set up."
Ranma snorted and turned. Well, this would give him opportunities to practice his shapeshifting at least.
The girl watched the big silver horse turn and run off, shaking her head at this. Had it only been a few short weeks since she'd begun this adventuring life? Now she was taking shapeshifting beasts in stride.
