Tajra munched on a rice cracker and her yellow eyes followed each movement. This was so COOL!
(SCHUNK!) "Arrghhh!""I'm sorry, my old friend whom I have known since childhood. As you have said 'a ninja's service in life is death'! Yet I cannot serve an unjust master."
"Yeah! You tell 'em!" cheered Tajra from her cushion.
Ranma paused on the stairs as he heard Tajra watching yet another ninja dorama. She read and watched and practiced her "ninja craft" but she was actually a young thief turned housekeeper.
Whatever. She was a decent cook and pretty good maid. She knew enough about magic and magery that the lab was off limits and she didn't go up there. If someone DID try to sneak in and steal something, she knew her stuff and was pretty good with throwing knives.
The door sensed his approach and swung open, Ranma going through the wards as each determined that he was himself.
When you've had ONE bad experience with a doppleganger, you tend to take precautions.
He looked over the small stash of items that he normally carried with him as part of his 'work clothes' - for a high level mage this stuff was just part of the package.
Wand Of Illumination, Ring Of Comprehending Languages, Figurine Of Wondrous Power - Jade Owl, Cube Of Force, Flask Of Temperature Maintenance, Vest Of Pockets. A small padded packet held three flasks with a single dose of a different potion in each. The sort of stuff you normally had around just in case of an emergency like drug-crazed goblin berserkers leaping out of a hole in the ground.
Who the heck needed that happening? Though he could understand them being a bit upset that someone had set up a privy over one of their ventilation shafts, that was hardly his fault.
At least Tajra's twin sister wasn't around. Bad enough that one sister was a ninja-otaku. Tarja on the other hand:
