Zor's Bet - The SDF-3: End of one battle, beginning of a new? (DARK) [Episode 98981]

by AWarringer

Lieutenant Michelle de Saint-Exupery used the superior agility of her Starfury to wave around the energy blasts of the Minbari fighter that stuck on her tail like an old chewing gum. Only her experience in space combat against the Minbari saved her from being outmaneuvered by the even more agile Minbari Nial. But even her experience didn't allow her to try and take a shot at the Minbari on her tail. She sweated as she looked at the radar-screen and the nearing fighter behind her. Than she blinked and the Minbari Fighter had disappeared.

"Wha..." was all she could say when two other fighters pulled up to her.

On of the fighters was a Starfury like her own. The red painted wings and the black and white 'Iron Cross' on the cockpit showed her that it was the fighter of one of the other European Starfury Squadrons, more exactly the 'Red Baron' Captain Michael von Richthoven. Not he was famous, but the painting sheme of his 'fury and his ancestor, like her own ancestor Antoine de Saint-Exupery.

The other fighter was something that looked like it came from some historical documentation about the 20th century. It looked much like an old blue and silver color schemeed American F-14 Tomcat, but there were several differences. But the arrow-shaped symbol on the plane wasn't something she knew about. The only symbol on the plane she recognized was Snoopy with aviator googles on his doghouse.

"Baron one to Rafalle three," a voice speaking English with a just barley noticeable German accent came over tac-net," Are you okay?"

Michelle swallowed.

"I'm okay," she answered and dodged the energy blast of a Nial," Who's our friend?"

------------------------------------------------------------------

"Who's our fiend," he heard the pilot of the other X-shaped space fighter ask and had to smile.

He saw her dodging an energy blast and decided that she, too, was a great pilot like the 'Red Baron'. Personly he found it ironic as hell that he had rescued the descendant of the famous WWI pilot. He looked over the newly rescued Starfury and asked himself why anyone would paint a picture of the 'Little Price' on his/her fighter. But he was the one to talk with the black and white Snoopy on his VF-1V.

Before he answered he let four of his SRM's fly into a small group of Alien fighters.

"Captain Daniel Brown, callsign 'Snoopy'," he said with a slight smile.

"Ironic isn't it?" he heard von Richthoven ask shorty after that.

"Less talk more fight," Rafalle three just said," We have to..."

The voice stopped as any of the alien ships suddenly broke away from the combat and streaked away. The capital ships also stopped firing into the last groups of EarthForce ships and the shielded REF-ships.

Suddenly tac-net was overpowered by a declaration of the Minbari, telling every ship that they surrender to EarthForce. Everywhere in orbit around Earth, humans and some aliens are to stunned to believe it at first, causing the destruction of several fighters and capital ships by the REF-ships after the declaration.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Aboard the ship of the Grey Council a lone Vorlon and a lone Minbari female look at the holographic display that shows the SDF-3 and its escort fleet.

"They don't belong here," he said," They will upset the circles."

As the Vorlon leaves the Minbari wonders about the meanings of his words. She too wonders if it would be wise to start a new war with the unknown ships that had appeared to help the humans in this last battle of the war.
