The weapons of most of the Zentraedi ships opened fire at the EarthForce ships between them and Earth. Numerous Zentraedi Particle Cannons spit death towards Earths defensive fleet while a large number of rockets started to accelerate from their launchers towards their targets. After the initial salvo of the many thousand vessels large fleet of Zentraedi ships, they launched a large number of battle pods and Zentraedi in Power armor.
As the particle beams made contact with the ship-bodies they vaporized large chunks of the more than ten meter thick armor. But as the armor was the same armor the engineers had found in the plans for the Warlock-class, it slowly started to grow back, using the crude nanotechnology that had been reverse engineered from Shadow-vessels.
The AI controlled G.O.D. satellites and fighter drones were the first ones to react. Fifty heavy Particle Beam Cannons, backed up by quantum singularity reactors fired, each one hitting a more than two kilometer long Zentraedi-cruiser in its engine-section, burning through the armor and causing the cruiser to blow up in a spectacular explosion, hitting other ships with the derbis. At the same time, rockets left the launchtubes of the satellites and streaked towards the Zentraedi ships. Each of the rockets was tipped with a 500kt nuclear fusion warhead able and would blow a large hole into the targeted area, maybe even destroy the target.
After this second salvo, the captains of the EarthForce ships reacted. The weapons officers hit buttons and the weapons executed the calculated firing solutions. Particle Beam Cannons, Pulse Cannons, Fusion Beams and railguns fired and hit their intended targets, while nuclear tipped rockets left their racks. All the bridge crew had, theoretically, to do was moving the ship to avoid being hit or at least making it harder for the enemy to hit them.
As the first Zentraedi missiles homed in on their targets the self defense systems of the EarthForce ships reacted. Pointdefense Phased Pulse Cannons opened fire at the incoming rockets, blowing up good 99 percent of them. The ones getting through to the armor blew away large chunks of armor. Several of the smaller EarthForce corvettes and cruisers were thrown off course, some even descending towards other ships.
One Hyperion cruiser descended onto a Omega destroyer, ripping open the fixed section that had been rotating in the original design. The Hyperion hit one of the missile depots of the Omega, the initial detonation igniting the rest of the depot and destroying the ship from the inside. As the detonation reached the reactor, the artificial singularity was stable for a long enough time to suck in most of the reactor room. before blowing up in a flash of raw energy vaporizing both the Omega and the Hyperion.
In the Zentraedi fleet this scene repeated itself several times, before the EarthForce ships started to move away from each other to avoid destroying each other in the same way as the Hyperion and the Omega.

Breetai stood in the command bowl of his flagship. He looked concentrated onto the tactical display in front of him, while his ship shook when it was hit by a blast of energy from the EarthForce ships. He was deep in thought. The weapons of this enemy where far more powerful than he had expected. In this first minutes of the battle, he had already lost more than three hundred ships, while the enemy had just lost ten of their ships and one of the large defensive satellites orbiting the planet. And his dropship had never even reached the atmosphere of the planet. His remaining biological eye narrowed as he noticed that two of the contacts near the large station on the other side of the planet had suddenly disappeared. Something in the energy signature of those ships was familiar.

Two jump points formed directly in the middle of the lines of the EarthForce vessels, releasing two ships directly into the battle. The crews of the EarthForce vessels cheered as the two terran-build sisterships of the SDF-1 entered the battle, the bows of their hull splitting open.
Two beams of blinding white Reflex Energy tore into the Zentraedi Fleet, blowing up several dozen ships. Directly after this initial Reflex-salvos the two Space Defense Fortresses released a stream of Veritech Starfuries entering the numerous dogfights between the fleets, while the Reflex Cannons of their Motherships recharged.

General Donniger stood in front of the large situation table in the War Room of Babylon 5. He looked concentrated at the tactical representation of the battle going on over the Pacific Ocean.
"They want something," he said to noone in particular.
He moved his head towards one of the technicians.
"I need an interpolation of the course the ships had when they left the main fleet."
The technician nodded, while a Nova blew up on a screen in the background. The display on the table changed, showing a map of Earth and a few red lines, crossing somewhere in the Pacific.
"Were are the lines crossing," he asked.
The map zoomed in and showed an island. Donniger frowned as he recalled this particular island.
"Marcoss Island. They want the SDF-1."
He moved his head again, looking at another screen showing the tactical display now. The battle was still going on.
"We need the ship away from Earth," he said," Maybe the enemy will follow them and give us time to prepare."
He than looked at yet another display, showing something that noone outside of this room should know, yet.

Commander Lisa Hayes looked at Lieutenant Sammi Porter as is she had grown a second head.
"We are ordered to... what?"
Sammi winced at Lisas tone.
"We are ordered to get away from here as fast as possible. This means we are ordered to execute a Spacefold."
"In the atmosphere?"
Sammi just nodded.
"The calculations of Professor Lang are all based on this island as reference point," Captain Henry Gloval said in his gruff and heavy accented Russian voice," So we are executing the Fold to the other side of the moon, when we have reached an altitude of eight kilometers."
The women on the bridge just looked warily at their Captain as he sucked at his pipe.
