Its prey was at least standing his ground, and looked ready to fight. Which was fine with the yoma as that meant that it didn't have to chase him around needlessly. Besides, it would make it easier to slay him and get this task over with.
But it first needed to get through all the screaming grubling spawn to reach him. It was an easy enough task as they had little fight to them, and no abilities to speak of. Tossing desks around made for an easy way of getting them to move, and it upped the terror in those around it.
Unfortunately, as it was making a straight line towards the one it sought, one of the grublings got in the way. She had tripped, and fallen into a heap. By the time she bothered to get up, she was in its way, and the only choice was to remove her from its path. That was simple enough, and smacking her away would give it some enjoyment before it got to its true target.
However, just as it was about to hit her, another boy decided to play hero and leapt so that his body impacting on hers resulted in both of them sliding on the floor. Doing so annoyed the yoma, and stopped just long enough to see the boy covering his classmate with his own body.
That was just fine by the yoma's standards. It raised its hand and brought it down hard to smash both children.
But it was not to be.
Jedite stood where he had been monitoring the yoma's progress and realised two things.
First, he really needed to talk to that Beryl twit about being through in her information gathering.
And second.., he absolutely positively HATED this assignment.
Keiichi Morisato realised that something was up when he found that the breath that he'd been holding in was in desperate need to get out. Since he hadn't thought that he or the girl under him would last that long, he knew that things hadn't gone quite as he'd thought they'd would. Of course, he knew that very little thought had gone into his thinking, and that he had simply been acting on instinct.
Opening eyes shut in anticipation of the blow, he looked hesitantly before seeing the claw stopped at least a foot and a half to two feet away from him. Between him and it was a barrier of some sort made of what looked like light. Wondering what was going on, he looked it over before seeing what seemed to be a wing made of pure white feathers.
Turning slightly in the direction of where it seemed to be coming from, he peered up and saw a pretty girl with wings standing over him.
"Oh my," she said in a soft voice, "I hope that you are okay..."
Wordlessly he nodded.
"Well then, that is very good, isn't it? But we will have to wait until later to sit down and talk. Just for now the only important thing is that I'm Belldandy and I'm here to help you."
An angel? Minako asked. Kind of odd, isn't it?
Makoto gave a snort. I don't care. Only means more help in fighting this jerk, and I'm not about to throw something like that away.
Ranma found himself nodding to the sentiment while:
