A Tokyo-Tower-Ward we go! Right? (WAFF) [Episode 1006]

by Brian Randall

"Tokyo Tower?" Ranma asked, scratching his head. He'd expected that she'd want to run to a museum, or maybe a park. "That's kinda' far," he noted.

Ukyou fidgeted for only a moment before replying, "I know, but, we might not get another chance, Ranchan."

Ranma nodded in response, and glanced towards the skyscrapers defining the center of Tokyo in the distance. "Okay," he said evenly. "The bus'll take too long to get us there and back, so there's only one way we can do this."

"How's that?" Ukyou asked curiously, smiling.

"Well, first of all, we're going to have to run, so onyourmarkgetsetgo!" he yelled, running as quickly as he could without warning.

Ukyou yelped something indignantly, but was only a half step behind him. He laughed softly, leaping from the sidewalk past the school to the roof of a nearby house, and from there, to the air again. No bus could move through the city that fast, even if they would need to slow down once they began to encounter taller buildings.

More than that, though, it'd been far too long since he'd had a good race with nothing on the line except the race itself. He and Ukyou had played all sorts of games as children, and this had been one of them -- she'd actually caught him once or twice, unlike the morning okonomiyaki battles.

Glancing behind him, he was surprised to see her catching up, long hair billowing behind her in the breeze. "No fair!" she protested, smiling, and shouting to be heard over the wind.

He paused for a heartbeat, and nodded at her as she descended from another leap, landing at his side, then grabbing his hand to steady herself on the rooftop. "No fair," she repeated again, trying not to laugh.

"Okay," he replied evenly. "For real, this time?"
