"Oh great," muttered the martial artist, "On our first mission, we come across one of them?"
"It could be worse, we could have come across a high class magic user with a nasty temper," Jaim reminded her.
"Any worse a temper than one of them?"
"Well..."
"Umm..," Ranma reluctantly piped up, "What's a 'starvanzer'?"
"You don't... Of course you don't know," the fire elf replied, "It's quite simple. They are big creatures with bad tempers that will eat just about anything. And I mean anything."
For a moment, he found himself imagining a giant panda with a mop of dark hair and holding a shinnai growling at him before he shook his mind back to the problem at hand. "That's bad, isn't it?"
"Could be, if it gets the drop on us. On the other hand, it can be defeated."
"The only problem, other than they're mean," the ardrow put in, "Is that they are faster than anything that size should be."
"Which means that we've either got to be faster, or smarter than it."
"Ahh..," he murmured as he realised the severity of the problem he was heading into. If he jumped, he risked getting eaten by a creature with a bad atttiude. But if he stayed, he would be stuck with the girls who had just made that wierd declaration. "Oh well, at least I can fight..."
"Any help would probably be good," the wizardess commented.
"I'd like ta think I'm pretty good."
"Really?"
"Yup," he told them with a smirk and threw a few quick practice punches.
"Hmm... That is quite good."
"Thanks," he replied and leaned back... so far that he got a clear view of the ground below them. Even though the lifeboat wasn't the fastest of crafts, it was still going to get to the ground quick enough. And when it did, they were going to get attacked by something that probably ate more than his Pop, if that was possible.
