Usagi ran, tears running down her cheeks.
She ran as she had never run before.
From scattered points on the vast field of ice, the other Senshi did the same.
Sailor Moon could feel their approach. Beryl’s forces had succeeded in separating them, but in the final minutes of that last battle, she had reached out to the scattered Senshi and they had responded. Their spirits had joined hers and together they had summoned enough power to destroy Metallia.
Which, unfortunately, resulted in their current predicament. A vast wall of destruction was rapidly spreading behind them, and they needed to gather and join hands to teleport to safety.
“This (huff) is far enough (huff) Sailor Moon. The others are almost here, and we will have enough time to get to safety once they arrive.”
Usagi stopped and nodded at the blue-suited senshi who had been the first at her side. Venus and Mars were right behind them and now she could see Jupiter rapidly approaching. As she caught her breath, she looked back at what remained of Beryl’s base. Tears filled her eyes and a sob escaped her throat.
“Endymion…”
Sailor Mercury hugged her friend and tried to offer her some support. Their final joining had briefly merged the senshi to such an extent that they had briefly shared memories. So Ami knew what had occurred when Usagi had faced Queen Beryl and the corrupted Tuxedo Mask.
Sailor Moon had nearly died at the hands of her former love. And yet, at the moment of truth, when she lay there helpless before him, Endymion had pulled back. Despite the controls Beryl had placed upon him, the true spirit of the Prince of the Earth had shown through. Although he paid for it with his life, he had managed to kill Beryl and protect his princess.
“Come on, join hands!” Mars’ voice brought them back to the present. Jupiter had arrived and it was time to leave.
Usagi grasped her friends’ hands and prepared to leave. Looking back one last time, she whispered “Oh, Endymion. I wish it had been different. If only you had been reborn somewhere else, you might have had a happy life, and never fallen into Beryl’s clutches.”
A tears fell down her cheek as she turned away for the final time and joined her power with her friends.
“Sailor Teleport!”

Deep within Beryl’s fortress, the wall of magic relentlessly advanced, consuming everything in its path. Soon it arrived at the chamber containing the remains of the Earth Prince.
As the body of Mamoru Chiba was destroyed, a sphere of blinding white surrounded the soul of Endymion. Briefly it hovered, untouched by the destruction surrounding it.
And then it winked out as it traveled back to the past. Back to be reborn as someone untouched by the rise of Beryl’s forces.
To ensure that this new life would remain undetected by Beryl, Endymion’s memories were sealed. Sealed until Beryl was no more.

And so, Endymion, Prince of the Earth, lived two lives. One a doomed existance as Mamoru Chiba and one slumbering until the conditions of awakening were met.
And as the Senshi reappeared in the courtyard of the Hikawa Shrine, those conditions were fulfilled.
