Paradox had started in the Silver Millenium and the Gates Of Time had been constructed as a countermeasure.
Everytime Chibi-usa got involved, opened her mouth, spoke about darn near anything, flirted with her father - the accumulated paradox grew.
The Dark Moon had added a massive weight onto that. Followed by Nehelenia and how that had all ended up. Galaxia had not been kind with the amount of paradoxes laid upon the Gates.
The Gates were like a dam in a river. When the river was too full and about to spill over the top, they could try to hold and possibly burst or they could release the pressure.
When they cracked under the pressure, the universe moved and eliminated the paradox at the source - the Silver Millenium.
The Silver Millenium had been the result of refugees from the Sailor Wars, as had been revealed during Galaxia's bid at purifying the universe. The elimination of paradox therefore had to stretch back prior to that event.
The Gate, which was what provided her defense against changes in the timestream, failed. It and Sailor Pluto vanished as they now had simply never been.
The timeline stabilized as the source of paradox was shifted and no time travel was going to be involved at all. Not to say that the world was without the individuals involved, it was just that with Ranma and the various Senshi being fate-entwined, they were going to have to live with the resulting new lives as:
