Pewter: Planning Journies [Episode 103701]

by Kender

Even if he hadn't been a goblin, Ranmanobaka Ahoman would have been a smart guy. He was the type to use brains before brawn, and could actually plan things out. It wasn't his fault that no one listened to him, but he wasn't about to lose sleep about it. As it was, he knew his own mind, and how to use it to his advantage.

In that vein, he knew that even without the dragon he'd be in trouble. Going up against the swordsman, sorceress, theif or that strange girl with the wierd way of fighting would not be good for his health. And attack a drow was a bad idea no matter what one did as even when one could slay one, it would mean a lot of pain in doing so.

His self preservation instinct was too well ingrained to allow that.

But he also knew that he faced some problems if he left.

Sitting in his hiding spot, he pondered how things could go. Sure he could find an ally, but a lot of times the 'help' was as dangerous as the target or worse. Plus he had little idea of what they were like and what their plans were, so that meant that he'd not only risk losing them, but not be able to be completely sure who could be a good partner in the plans.

So he decided on a simple course of action. He'd follow them, keeping to the fringes of wherever they'd be, and keeping them in sight. Then he would have the chance to see what sort of group they were, and how he could plan his attack.

And once he acted, he'd be able to return to the tribe's lair in glory, admiration and power.

After the last of the goblins fled into the woods, Pewter stopped in front of Sinda and peered at her even as he tried to get his breath back. Poking her with his nose, he attempted to determine just how much she was hurt. "Are you okay?"

The drow appreciated the sentiment, but had a reason for wanting him to pull back. "I'm fine, but could you stop that?"

"I didn't mean to bother you..."

"You aren't bothering me. It's just that your breath is still really cold and I'm not wearing winter clothes."

"Oh, sorry..."

"You really showed those evildoers!" Amelia cheered. "You were amazing!"

"Thank you... But I was only trying to stop them..."

"And you did! I'm sure that they'll think twice before trying that again!"

Lena heaved a massive sigh. "But this campsite is still not safe. If those little idiots decide to tell anyone else, we'll have company."

"That's not good, right?" the elf swordsman asked.

"You really are an idiot, you know that?"

"I'd be surprised if he did," M'reth drawled with a purr of amusement.

"Unfortunately, that's true. But at least we're already supposed to be heading out."

"And onward onto adventure!" declared the kender.

"I'm really beginning to wonder about that girl," the sorceress muttered.

The Mithra theif shrugged. "But it doesn't change the fact that we do have some sort of destination in mind."

"True... So, does everyone agree that we've got to go?"

Nods came back at her, while:
