Nabiki looked at the electrical charge building up around the bracelet in her hand. This is going to hurt. She thought grimly as the charge exploded outward and sent her flying back only to be caught by Ranma as her world went black.
"Whaddya mean you can't find it?" Ranma's voice barked as she slowly came back to wakefulness.
"It's not in the inventory!" Storeman countered nervously. "Unless..."
"Unless what?"
"It's not uncommon for someone with the proper skills to combine multiple objects that are losing their powers into a new artifact. The amalgam has the same abilities as the original, but a new set of batteries, so to speak."
"So you're saying this thing is a two for one special?" Nabiki groaned trying weakly to sit up as Ranma pushed her back down.
"Hmm... Looks more like a four for one." Storeman mused carrying a large leather book over to the table.
"Don't you... use computers?" Nabiki groaned. "And why do I feel so weak?"
"It must have something to do with your new toy." Ranma said, raising her wrist to show the bracelet. "It seems bonded to you, and we can't get it off."
"It was my bright idea to come in here, wasn't it?" Nabiki said eyes fluttering. "Shoulda-"
"Save your strength, until we can figure out what's wrong." Ranma said pressing a finger to her lips as she lay back on the couch. So what's this thing made of?"
"Well lets see." Storeman perused the large tome. "Hmm... It seems that the Karmic Irony Clause is in effect. The first item was a Jusenkan Talisman."
"As in..."
"Yes. Miss Tendo now can shift into any shape she can imagine, but it needs cold water to activate, and warm water to restore her. The next artifact seems to be the Heart of Ice. Fairly self explanatory, giving the user, Miss Tendo, control over ice and cold, snow and ice projectiles, and a full transformation into... hmm not quite clear on that. Looks like some kind of ice angel."
"Hiruu Shoten Ha..." Nabiki whispered with a half smile on her face.
"I'll teach ya Nabs," Ranma said squeezing her cooling hand. "Sounds just perfect for ya."
"Also included was the Twilight Manacle. When activated, it shrouded the user in a cloak of shadows giving them the power to manipulate and travel through shadows. The weakness seems to be an effect from the last component artifact, The Eye of the Oracle. Miss Tendo is now a seer of the highest order, with powerful precognitive abilities, but they come at a terrible price." Storeman said pointing to a paragraph of text.
"Seems that keep themselves humble and grounded in the here and now, a seer bound themselves to another's life force, kinda like sharing ki, I guess. The more powerful the seer, the more ki was required."
"Does it-"
"I'm looking for that..." Ranma said skimming the paragraph. "Oh hells..."
Nabiki was about to say something when Storeman looked at the section where's Ranma's finger rested. "I take it then that you two are not intimate?"
"Nope." Ranma said turning to Nabiki. "Nabs, the book says that the bond was achieved through an emotional bond cemented with a physical gesture. A kiss could be used to form a temporary bond, but for a permanent bond...."
"Ran... shut up and kiss me." Nabiki said breathily.
"Hey Rocky wanna see me pull a something else out of my hat?"
