"Ran... shut up and kiss me." Nabiki said breathily.
Ranma smirked as he lifted Nabiki up into a semi seated position. "I'm gonna pay for this, aren't I?"
"Only if... run your mouth..."
Ranma smirked and moved to kiss the dark haired girl in his arms when she froze stiff and her eyes glowed white as a matching aura enveloped her. "What's happening?"
"I- I don't know!" Storeman yammered. "She must be accessing her new abilities somehow!"
Nabiki relaxed as the light show ended leaving her looking worse than before. "You must do it now, Mr. Saotome! If she's to have any chance of survival, you must bond now!" Storeman snapped dramatically, primarily because as a Hero he had deliver dramatic lines in tense moments like this, but also because customers dying on site played havoc with the insurance.
Ranma raised Nabiki's face to kiss her but she squirmed away. "No... ring... kiss... die..."
"Mr. Saotome!" Storeman railed.
No ring kiss die? What could she mean by that? Ranma thought quickly. Ring... She must mean the Black Lantern ring. Did she have a vision of me dying when I put the ring on? No! She must want me to put it on! Why else would she twist away? I have to wear the ring to boost my ki, or when I try to bond I'll die!
Ranma's years of training had turned his mind into arguably one of the fastest biological combat analysis units in the world, and with Nabiki's life on the line, his deductions took scant seconds as he slipped the black ring on his finger. "Wake up, princess." He murmured pulling her into a deep kiss as he felt his ki get drawn into Nabiki swirling into something new for the Ice Queen.
"Slip her some tongue!" Storeman chanted. Ranma and Nabiki glared as they broke the kiss.
"Feeling better?" Ranma asked.
"Lots." Nabiki said. "Let's pay for these and get out of here."
"In a sec. Hey Mally! Where's the battery for this thing?"
"My name..." Storeman quailed at the furious glares the two pinned him with. "It's the ring box. It's indestructible, only you can open it, and it automatically enters a pocket dimension while you're wearing the ring."
"What about when it's charging?" Ranma asked. "I mean someone swipes the box and I'm outta luck."
"You can will the box to you or into it's pocket at anytime. That should allay any security measures."
The pair nodded, paid, and left never realizing they had attracted attention not of this world.

"Curious." J'onn J'onzz, the Martian Manhunter, stood near a console in the Justice League Watchtower.
"What is it?" Green Lantern John Stewart asked.
"Two things. A psychic surge, almost too weak to spot." The alien said.
"Then how did you spot it?"
"It was large and unfocussed. Someone with more skill would have used less power in a more precise manner to achieve their goal."
"That's one. What was the other?"
The last Martian tapped a few buttons on the console. "At the same moment, the Watchtower sensors detected a spike similar to that of your ring. Scans have localized it to Japan, city of Tokyo, Nerima Ward."
"Then I better get down there."
"I'm afraid that will have to wait." J'onn said as an alarm started to wail. "We have a situation."
