"Are you sure?" Eddie asked. "You don't think you need a doctor or anything."
"Certainly not," Kodachi insisted. "I have more than enough skill with treating myself. I am a highly accredited gymnast and training accidents are not unheard of."
"You're a gymnast then?" Eddie asked.
"Listen, Eddie," Kodachi said. "I have just had my day ruined by a trio of outlandish goons in masks. I just want to spend the rest of this day soaking and tending to my garden."
"I see," Eddie said, inwardly laughing at Kodachi's act of disliking the spiders and the goblin. It was very effective, but he already knew her secret. "Well, perhaps I'll see you again."
"Perhaps," Kodachi said, not without smiling. Then she left him at the gate and walked into the estate, leaving him behind.
"All I need is a little proof," Eddie whispered to himself as he turned away from the estate. "Only problem is that if I put my name on this story, she'll know I broke it." And then she wouldn't want to be around him.
"Maybe," he considered. "If I convince her somebody else is going to break the story...then I'll be able to get her permission to do it. The best of two worlds. A rich, gorgeous girl indebted to me and break the story of the century all in one."
As he walked down the street, he didn't notice a girl step out of the shadows.
"Good plan," the Black Rose commented. "I just need to make one or two corrections."
