It was all she could do not to yell “Wheeee!” at times.
There was a freedom to be found in webswlinging that she could scarcely remember ever finding in her life before.
Maybe once… being held in Ranma’s arms when she had been thrown from his fiancée’s bedroom. That one moment when she had felt safe and protected, yet free and all at the same time.
The world had flown past as he leapt through the air with her in his arms. Confidence had radiated from his body, as concern radiated from his eyes. Concern for her, not for the Noble Kodachi Kuno or the Mysterious and Deadly Black Rose, but simply concern for the girl in his arms whoever she might be and for an instant the madness had left her and she had felt special in a way that none of her other identities had ever made her feel.
Was it any wonder she had chased him? With him she didn’t have to be anyone for him to care for her, she could just be herself.
Of course both sides of her had worked hard to screw that up. They had driven him away by being too graspy, too needy, and ultimately just too insane.
She had made great strides towards sanity with him around. She had stopped attacking others before a match… mostly and used much less force during the times when she had backslid and done so. She had still had a laugh that would scare a hyena and enough… exuberance for a team of cheerleaders, but he had blunted some of her sharper edges.
If she had won him who knows how sane she might have become?
But that was all before the spider and the Spider-Man.
