But she sure as hell wasn't going to scare him off with that at the moment.
So she peered at the writing on the page and tried to see what made it so special. It looked like just a bunch of marks on a piece of paper put on by different people. Just trying to look at it made her wonder just what she was supposed to be seeing, but she was not getting any real vibe off of it. Even when she concentrated she kept on finding herself seeing Japanese in the obviously foreign language.
And then she realised that the writing in that section seemed to be reorganising itself into Japanese. Her admittedly problematic tendency to try and make the letters into something that she was more familiar with seemed to actually move the passage from one look to another. That seriously freaked her out, and she squeaked as she realised that instead of the complete junk that she'd been seing before, there was clear and legible Japanese on that section of paper.
"What?" Ranma asked, his brow furrowing in concern.
"That part moved and changed..," Sailor V replied, pointing with one shaking gloved finger.
"It did? Can you read it?"
"It says... 'To read this is proof that the reader has the potential of becoming a mage. Not all can go in this direction, even some with the talent, but it does mean that the one who is seeing this passage has the chance to begin upon this path.'"
"You're sure about that?"
"Yeah... But what's this part here? 'And if you can read this, you've let yourself come too close to being put through a future full of training which will not be fun. Have a nice day.'"
Rolling the paper back up, he sighed. "The guy who wrote that thought he had a sense of humor."
"But what does all this mean?"
"It means that I have a new apprentice."
"Huh? Who?"
"You."
"EH?! For what?!"
"You have the potential to be a mage, just like me."
She blinked blankly at him. "But... But I'm a Senshi. We have powers and focuses, or did, but there's never been anything about being... what you just said."
"Well, you'll just be more."
"'More'? Like zapping and doing what you did?"
"Possibly. I just never expected it."
"Me neither..."
"I can understand that Miss Aino," he told her.
"Why do you keep on calling me that..? I told you. I'm Sailor V..."
"I can tell who you are. At my level, and with 'what I do', it wasn't a problem once I saw you in both... identities."
"Really..?"
"Yes."
Hanging her head, she whimpered. "Don't tell my parents... They'd kill me if they knew my secret..."
"We'll see what we can do, okay?"
"I hope so..."
"Good," he said with a sigh as he considered just how problematic things had gotten. He'd come simply to see if one of his students would be a possible danger, but wound up with a new student. Groaning, he wondered just why this sort of thing happened to him while:
