It was late night, well into the early morning hours. The building lay silent and dark, a complete opposite of its day hours. Few came this side of town that time so security is more of a 'safer than sorry' type. Which is to mean, below minimal. WAY below minimal.
It was actually lucky. For the ... entities, that were roaming within its dark empty halls and corridors now had no concept whatsoever of mercy and/or pity. And more than a little taste for cruelty and bloodshed. A lot more indeed ...
Steel file cabinets were all but shredded open like wet tissue paper. Files were scanned by red glowing inhuman eyes and tossed around when they did not revealed what the searchers sought, only heightening their haste and anger.
Suddenly, one of the figures stopped, looking at the info in an adoption register. A wicked smile split open its face, ivory white fangs glittering in the shadows. The master will be very pleased! It thought. With this we can recover his daughter and bring her to him!
Turning to his partners, it spoke: "I found it! She's with a family named Tsukino! Lets go!" And turning from the mess of the room, they quickly and silently left without sparring a backward glance. Their leader smiled wickedly to ... itself. It remembered the location of the few human sentries around and, even if there wouldn't enough time for reaching the address were the master's child was, there was time for a little ... snack before retiring to rest.
A small park, near the outskirts of Juuban ...
Donovan stood silently amidst the carnage, the cloying smell of blood and entrails pervading the air. Around him, 15 bodies, slashed and dismembered lay strewed. Eleven were from a werewolve's band, the other four, the two couples the band had ambushed.
The REALLY bad thing was, they've been NOT killed by the weres.
Donovan had chanced upon the scene, and without a blink of an eye, had Dileck out and slashing away. At everything and everybody around.
The despair and surprise in their decapitated heads did nothing to him. Even his fanatic zeal and self-hatred that had spurned him in his 'crusade against the night' were gone. All that was left inside him was a dark , black cold void. As dark and void as his eyes had become. Silently watching around, he ripped a strip of cloth from a more or less clean body to wipe the blood and gore in his sword, uncaring of the carnage he wrought.
Nearby, a little girl holding a headless doll watched silently. If some expression could be assigned to her face, pride at a job done would be the one. "Lets go, Donovan." Said Anita. "We have a lot to do." She finished, turning away from the mass murder site and calmly walking. Yes ... we have a LOT more to do .. before the void can swallow this world in nothingness ... she thought to herself.
Silent as the shadows of the night, they walked away, melting into the darkness ...
