Feeling a hand clasp her shoulder, she looked up to see the face of one of the Guard officers, Edric, looking down at her. Behind him stood another familiar face, Tylvon, who looked to be worrying himself to more hairloss. "They're all safely on the ground," she told them, "But I'm certain that they aren't the only ones there."
"Don't worry about it kid," Edric replied, "Thanks to you, they're safe, and we have squads already out looking for them."
"This is the perfect time to worry!" Tylvon complained, "The bridal candidates are all over the place, there are enemies out there, and the Prince is missing!"
"The candidates will be perfectly safe, and there are not that many dangers out there."
"Even one is too many! And what about the Prince!"
"I can find him..," the Rowan offered.
Edric smirked. "There's no need. We know where he is."
"You do?!" Tylvon blurted. "But why didn't you let everyone know?!"
"Becuase unlike you I don't see any reason for inane panic. And since there's no party right now, there's little reason to get everyone worked up."
"Of course there's reason!"
"No, there is not."
Privately, the Rowan had to agree with Edric, but then she'd normally do that. He might have drifted in from who knew where, but he had proven himself to be trustworthy and competant. On the other hand, Tylvon tended to fret needlessly, which was bad enough in his position of preparing things for official functions, but the man seemed to be completely incapable of keeping out of things of 'propriety'. "There are Guards with him."
"Exactly."
"You can sense this?" Tylvon asked hopefully.
She shrugged negligently. "I know the Prince, and I know the Guards. It's only common sense to realise that he wouldn't go without a least one Guard, and they likely would have someone after him."
"Then you don't know for sure?!"
"I do know. And even with a little attempt, I can sense him, and from him, them."
"That takes a bit of pressure of, but now we need to figure out where he is! He should have never run off like this! There's an emergency going on, and he has responsibilities..."
"Shut. Up," Edric told the other man.
"But..."
"Listen to me very carefully. If you do not stop your babbling, I'll personally lock you in a closet and lock you in there until you realise that you shouldn't interfere in others' business. Do you understand?"
"But..."
"Do you understand?"
Tylvon took a long look at the dark expression he was recieving and decided to clam up.
"Good. Now go and whine about draperies or something."
"I don't whine!"
"You do, and you have responsibilites. We'll get the candidates, and if you don't have the castle looking suitably impressive when they arrive, it'll be your fault."
"Oh, that's right..!"
"Then go!"
The balding man went wide eyed as he scurried off and the Rowan gave a small smile to the Guard. "Thank you. His anxiety was beginning to wear."
"You don't need psychic powers for that," Edric replied. "You okay though?"
"I'll survive."
"Good. I just hope that this is resolved quickly. I don't want my wife reverting and deciding to take a whip to me because I'd been working late."
She giggled slightly as she knew that he and his dark elven artisan wife loved each other deeply, and understood each other's occupational hazards well enough to predict them.
"Now that's good to hear. Still, I've got work to do, and you have to rest."
"I will."
"Alright," he said with a nod and walked off.
Watching him leave, she let herself enjoy the silence of the quiet, and hoped that there wouldn't be more problems while:
