Return to Bet - GD: Clipping Talons [Episode 112553]

by Templar

Soatome Ranma, martial artist extraordinaire, God-Slayer, Defeater of Dragons, Defender of Women, and All-Around Scapegoat, was in a quandary.

Staring down at the unconscious form of his father lying in the doorway in front of him, the pig-tailed martial artist wasn’t sure what to do. Granted, even thought he guy was obviously not a martial artist, the wimp just HAD to be better than Genma as a father. Maybe he should cart the old man inside? Shaking his head, the youth sighed and rubbed his forehead in exasperation.

Suddenly, his danger sense went off. Spinning around, the boy couldn’t help but arch an eyebrow at the strange sight before him. First was the tall figure with obvious martial arts skills. Judging from the way he stood, Ranma guessed that his training was in ninjitsu of some kind. Next to him was a bald woman who’s stance practically screamed, “I used to be picked on, but look at me now!” Stifling a snort, the pig-tailed boy let his eyes slide off the woman onto a somewhat more subtle threat. He wasn’t sure who he was, but his stance labeled him as extremely dangerous, but not in any fighting skills.

“Something I can do fer ya?” Ranma asked, relaxing his body into the famous ‘I’m not ready for anything’ Soatome School stance.

“We’ve come for the mage.” The bald chick snarled with an evil grin adorning her face.

“Trust me, you don’t want to mess with us, boy.” The obvious martial artist declared with more than a little arrogance dancing in his eyes.

“What mage?” The pig-tailed martial artist asked.

“The one behind you.” The ninja responded, crossing his arms across his chest.

“Oh.” Ranma replied, turning his head to look upon his father for a few moments. “Sorry, but I’m gonna keep him for a bit longer.”

“No, I don’t think so.” The man who up to this point had maintained his silence finally spoke. His hands came flashing upwards, glowing with some eldritch power. The deep violet glow of power had caught Ranma’s attention immediately. Knowing that it wasn’t Ki, he could only assume that it was some sort of magic.

Zelda and Daishi could only blink in stunned surprise when the image of the boy faded away leaving nothing behind. Hearing a sound to the side, they turned their attention towards Ionis only to discover his badly beaten unconscious body lying on the ground with the youth standing over him.

“You don’t wanna be doing this.” Ranma spoke quietly. “So just pick up yer friend and get outta here.”

“I’m afraid that we cannot.” Daishi responded, his estimation of the boy’s ability skyrocketing upwards. Without further speech, he dashed forward at his fastest speed. A three strike combo met nothing but air as the boy weaved around his punches before retaliating with a blow to the ninja’s stomach. The air was blasted from his body as pain exploded throughout his body. All the ninja could do was to curl up around his injured belly and gasp for breath. He never noticed the kick that slammed into the side of his head, sending him into the darkness of sleep.

Zelda, meanwhile, was simply staring at something that shouldn’t have been possible. The new enemy moved faster than she could even see, had more skills than the ninja, and seemed to pack more power than she did.

“You gonna attack me, too?” The boy asked her, his stance not wavering at all from his casual pose. She couldn’t help but sweat drop at the knowledge that the boy didn’t consider her a threat at all. And, she couldn’t help but add, seeing how he dealt with the other two, maybe she wasn’t.

Shaking her head in the negative, she nervously picked up her two partners in crime and slung them over her shoulders. Backing away from the ever-watchful youth until she reached a safe distance, she couldn’t help but think of how she was going to explain this latest disaster. After the bald chick had retreated with her two companions, Ranma turned his attention back to his father only to discover that he wasn’t alone anymore.

“Hi, there.” The boy nodded his greeting. “I’m Soatome Ranma… sorry about this.”

Standing over his father’s sleeping form was…
