Which didn't help since he'd come up against something that wasn't exactly the sort of enemy that he was used to.
As Pluto sloshed her next drink in her glass, she sighed and wondered just why he was in that store in the first place. In the original timeline he hadn't been there, as he'd been on a trip outside the city then. But now he had apparently gone instead to where the latest enemy had placed its trap. It was a traditional one which the Senshi had faced before, what with the disguised minion luring unsuspecting customers in, but he wasn't used to that sort of thing happening, though in most cases, he would have been able to at least hurt the creature of the day.
However, this one was different, since it had the consistancy of putty, or something similar. Hitting it meant little, since it just reshaped itself around the blow. Sending special maneuvers didn't work for much the same reason, and even when he'd flattened it, it just slid back into its 'normal' shape. But it didn't have the same problems, as it seemed to have an endless supply of itself to send at him, and thus could still punch him from across the room, or could send globs of goo as distance attacks.
Basically, he needed an area attack to take it out.
As a close combat specialist, what he got was being slammed into a water cooler and winding up getting stuck hanging upside down in girl form.
Yet, before the now pigtailed girl could free herself and see if she could use her new found insight to try and trip the sprinkler system, help showed up in the form of cute girls in short skirts. Sailor Mars torched the monster and Sailor Mercury froze it solid so that Sailor Moon could use her magic to zap it good.
The whole debacle proved to be a big blow to Ranma's pride. It wasn't that he'd been saved by a group of girls, though that was a bit wince worthy. Nor was it that he had lost. It wasn't even that he had been stuck in such an embarrassing position.
Rather, it was due to the fact that he'd been beaten by something that looked like a female version of Gumby. After facing all sorts of wierd enemies, and beating them all, it was pretty... disappointing to be defeated by something that was more stupid that Kuno. He should have beaten it as far as he was concerned, but he'd wound up having to be saved from a walking pile of goo.
That did not make for a happy pigtailed boy, and he decided that he was going to have to find a way to strengthen himself so that he couldn't lose to such a stupid monster again. It was not something that he was going to allow, and his wounded pride drove him to find anything that could possibly allow him to restore what he'd lost. No matter how long it was going to take, he was going to do it.
And he managed to do it. He wound up finding something that made him a very important person indeed.
But it wasn't only that, as it made him important to the eventual creation of Crystal Tokyo, and what would lie in the future.
Taking a swig of her drink, Pluto saw just what it was, and immediately realised that he had found:
