It wasn't always an easy road, but he had managed.
Now he was faced with Minako walking off with a mystically empowered stranger, going to a pocket space through a stable gateway and spending time with two yoma. Added into it was the fact that he was nearly drowned in water, and it was not the best day he'd had. With the inclusion of a woman coming out of a tree, it just begged one question.
"What the heck is going on?!" he cried out, his confusion overriding all else.
Before she knew what she was doing, Minako straightened up and frowned. "Did you hear that?"
"I did," Tarja said.
"Me too," Tajra agreed, "But what could it be? There are no guys around save for one."
"It sounds familiar," the blonde said as she got up and headed towards the window.
"It does? You know that person?"
"I think so... Hey..."
"What is it?"
"It's my cat!"
The drow ninja/housekeeper blinked. "As in a little furry thing with four legs, pointed ears and a tail?"
"Yup. He's out there."
"The white one in a tree?"
"That's Artemis alright. I just have to wonder what he's doing there?"
"It looks like he's having a conversation," Tarja commented.
The 'woman' winced. "You do not have to yell..."
"When strange women come out of trees, I do," the mooncat replied as he got into a defensive stance, "Or are you a yoma too?"
"'Yoma'?"
"A monster serving the forces of evil! You're here to act as a defense for the Dark General, aren't you?"
"Uh... no. I am a dryad, and I am here to grow."
"Excuse me?"
"I am what you might call a nature spirit," she told him, "This tree is part of me, and I am part of it. And the only thing that we really have to do is to keep growing."
"In a land like this?"
"Of course. This is something really nice for us. Those of us who are allowed to live in the forested areas get the chance to live without having the more... clueless humans bothering us. It's wonderful to not have to worry."
"You're afraid of humans?" Artemis asked, his jaw dropping.
"Of course not. There are other dryads outside of here after all. This is just a bit of a refuge. Though it can be really dark, what with all the rain..."
"Tell me about it..."
"Well, the Archmage has tried to get it fixed, but he's never been quite able to."
"'Archmage'?"
"Yes, this is his space. He's the Archmage of Tokyo, you know. Official government guy or something like that. We dryads try not to get involved in such things."
Blinking, the mooncat tried to take that in while:
