Magitech: Psi Another Day [Episode 117354]

Different newspapers and magazines still regularly brought updates of the two celebrities. So it was that Ranma Saotome was not exactly unknown to his age group.

The whole chi-enhancment thing was viewed with some fascination by those who were familiar with psi. Psi, after all, was a science and most people who attended at least high school knew about the rankings (Prime to E) and could at least name the five most common gifts. Truthspeaking, or the ability to discern deliberate lies. Intuition, or the ability to have "hunches" on how things would turn out - sometimes referred to as a "little voice". Healers, whose talents were so valuable that most governments gave special tax breaks and incentives for large families - this having been going on sufficiently long that the number of those with some Healing skill was fairly widespread. Dowsers, those who could use some focus item to track down some specific set of conditions or resources. Talkers, who had a talent for learning languages or could communicate to specific animal types - the latter could only communicate basic concepts that the animal in question could grasp but it was still quite a benefit in some occupations.

Into this throw one Ranma Saotome, whose chi abilities were noted and deemed valuable. Qigong practitioners were most interested as both Saotome were deemed exceedingly valuable for their knowledge and their potential genetic contribution.

The elder Saotome was an idiot. This was fairly well documented. However he also had some talents that bordered on psi of at least C if not B level. Ranma might well exceed his parent's level of power. It was also well understood by most people of at least high school education that if both Saotome men had this "chi" ability - it was likely genetic in origin much as Psi. In which case the two were potential founders of something that might turn out to be as mindbogglingly useful as psi.

So, as Ranma turned fourteen, he was a fairly handsome if slender and rugged looking individual. Tough, strong, fast, and with pretty darn good endurance. He had the whole celebrity thing going for him too - which meant that some people liked him and some people did not, even if they'd never met him.

However, that was nothing against the number who disliked his father.

So, as Ranma turned fifteen and was being dragged all over the world by his father in search of exotic techniques, the final straw occurred and it was decided that Ranma would end his training journey. That final straw being:
