Magitech: Almost Close [Episode 118614]

by Kender

Despite the fact that few actually could fathom the man, most could understand Genma's wish to travel in order to educate his son. Knowing that esoteric knowledge would not simply come to him, he went out to find them, locating the various peoples who might be able to teach the younger Saotome the skills he could use. He had managed quite well, in fact, as Ranma had learned quickly and well.

After all, when the masters of the various special abilities lived on points all over the planet, even gathering a fraction of them was not an easy task. So they had gone to the various teachers, and had learned all sorts of different things. It was not an easy road, but it was one to be completed with as much skill as possible.

However, as he'd returned with Ranma from one trek, the elder Saotome had come across an old pamphlet that told of a special area where certain secret powers still reigned. There were special things that could not be found anywhere else, including a place where one would go in and leave changed in mysterious ways.

He took this to mean that it would be a mystical training ground that would give some sort of deep shift in a person, perhaps even to the point of giving them mysterious powers.

So he'd dragged his only son to Jusenkyo, planning on using it to train the boy and hopefully garner whatever sort of benefit it promised. Of course, he didn't let the Guide's prattle stop him, as he knew that this could be another way to get his son even more powerful. His plans hadn't messed up so far, and this one seemed fine enough.

But he didn't know about the cursed natures of the springs, even though they'd been well documented, and had a person waiting to warn the unwary off. He'd just blathered on, uncaring of the fact that he could reduce the only other person from his home dimension into a lizard.

Knowing the disaster that could come, the Guide had helpfully manuevered the father and son to go to the local village, which just happened to be the homeland of a group of warrior women who'd lived there for thousands of years. They were a prideful people who had a strong attachment to their past.

It didn't take Genma long to offend them.

Having seen just how badly he could bumble, the authorities headed in quickly. It was clear that Ranma would not be best served by staying with his father for much longer. The man had not only nearly gotten his son transformed by an ancient magic, but had wound up almost getting them killed by people who were not to be trifiled with.

That was not something that they could just let slide, especially when Genma had seemed oblivious to the problem, and was planning on working his son harder.

So, the time had come to seperate father and son, and for some it was not too soon. They'd wanted to do it much earlier, but others had argued against it at least until the boy was old enough to understand. But now he could, and there was little arguement about it.

Of course, Genma's idle wondering about using explosives didn't hurt their position, even if he really wasn't planning on using it.

That was something that could not be allowed to happen, and they moved in quickly to squelch the possiblility.

All Ranma knew was that the authorities had taken charge, though it was soon clear to those outside him that:
