He wasn't alone though, as he had his new friend to keep him company. Then again, she'd managed to cause his father a serious injury, and obviously wasn't quite human. However, he didn't care, as she seemed friendly enough, and had helped him out.
And now he had a hand stroking her as he smiled. "Wow... This is kinda cool. I've never known anyone like ya..."
Hotaru made an annoyed sound. "Dir'm t'rok zm'rthch." (Do you have to talk so much?)
"Guess ya wanna sleep. But are ya hungry?"
"K'rtik?" (What?)
Seeing his pack nearby, the pigtailed boy reached over and pulled it closer. Once he was able, he moved it, and pulled out some food, which he put in his palm and held over to his new friend's mouth. "Would you like a fish roll? I snuck it earlier..."
Sniffing lightly, she wondered what that smell was. It seemed that he was offering her a snack of some kind, and she did have to admit that she had some hunger. So she took it and ate the foodstuff. The taste was odd, but she did like the meat part of it, and decided that she'd chosen well. "Rrr'tm vrrik ka. S'rkk Pirrrm." (You fed me. That is good."
"I'm glad you like it."
Genma knew that coming into the hospital with his sort of injuries would be problematic at best, but he knew that he had no other choice. If he didn't get immediate medical attention, he would be in a situation that could not be salvaged later. His story of being attacked by a wild animal had a possibility of helping, as it was entirely concievable. All he had to do was to stick to it, and he'd be able to keep it secret.
Of course, it was pretty close to the truth as far as he was concerned.
He just hoped that his son knew what he was doing with that strange girl.
"Ya were so cool when ya fought Pop," Ranma murmured, taking his hands from petting the girl in his lap only long enough to throw a few punches in the air. "I mean, you were so fast and strong... I'd love ta be able ta do that.
From his actions, she realised that he wanted to be a warrior too. Well, he did seem to have some promise, even if he was a hairless ape, and he did have the simple desire that he would need. But at the moment, she was too tired to really consider that.
"But I guess it's time for a nap, huh?"
She let him return to petting her, and relaxed. The threat was gone, the situation was safe, and she was tired. With his simple stroking, she was getting to ease out her tension, and enjoyed the respite while:
