Setsuna's Fault/Hotaru's Sensei: Making Confession [Episode 119118]

by Kender

For almost as long as she'd been Sailor Pluto, Setsuna had soothed her conscience with the certainty that what she had to do was neccessary. She'd known that Earth would have a city of purity and light that would make all the things that weighed her heart down worth it. It had been taken as fated that the great freeze would come, and then Crystal Tokyo would rise up from that.

But she'd always been prevented from seeing just what the big disaster was. That had been something that she'd avoided seeing, not only because she had to, but because she hadn't wanted to see just why so many lives would have to be sacrificed. Just the idea of that made her wary of checking the time, even though she knew that she'd eventually have to live to see it. However, at the very least, she had the reassurance that it would be the fault of as of yet unnamed 'big bad guy'.

Finding out that it was her fault that the world as she knew it was going to be destroyed was a massively humbling experience. It meant that she could have avoided it all, and that humanity could have survived if she hadn't interfered. If she'd just at least avoided her last mistake, the world would have gone on, perhaps with or without Crystal Tokyo, but without the mass incident that now seemed fated.

When she hadn't known who was at fault, she'd been prepared to lay her life down to do what would have to be done.

Now she wasn't quite sure what she should do, other than admit that she was wrong, and there were only a few people that she could do that with, though there was one she would have to do it with in particular.

So, heading back to the lab, she entered and found it rather... endearing now that she knew what she was responsible for. Venus was trying to make Ranma comfortable while Mercury scanned him with her computer. Nearby Mars helped Jupiter search for something to cook. And the Princess was spending some time smiling at the boy and making small talk with Saturn.

But this couldn't go on, and she knew that she had to break up the happy little scene.

"Umm... Excuse me," the Senshi of Time said over all their chatter.

"What is it?" Moon asked.

"I have to tell you something."

"Oh?"

"Yes... I... The time for the Great Freeze has come."

"WHAT?!" cried out the other Senshi.

Ranma blinked. "What's the 'Great Freeze'?"

"It's a thousand years where the entire planet is frozen in crystal," Jupiter told him.

"But we never knew what evil force was responsible for it," Mercury put in.

"We do now," Pluto corrected.

"We do? Who?"

"Me."

That got a group of shocked stares back at her, and the Princess had to work her mouth several times before she could speak. "How did that happen?"

"I was confronting what I thought was a yoma. I won, and got rid of it. And now nothing can die."

"That's good, isn't it?"

"No, it's not. I mean literally that absolutely nothing can die. I got rid of Death. People can't go onto the afterlife, and so continue suffering, meat will still move around on your plate, and wood furniture will grow branches. It's only starting to impact now, but given enough time... we'll be overrun, and unable to survive, except in a hellish environment."

"But how would we stop it?"

"The Great Freeze. If Saturn, Neptune, Uranus and I were to unite our powers, we could seal up the planet in time to keep the basic problems under wraps until the time when Sailor Moon can start Crystal Tokyo. Unforunately... The strain would kill the four of us."

"But you already said that you can't die," Mars muttered.

"I suppose it's just what will allow us to restart the process of death, or we'll be stuck as undead... But in any case, it's my fault."

"That's clear enough."

"So what do we do?" Saturn asked.

Everyone in the room looked at each other and frowned in concern while:
