Genma was less certain of new medical treatments.
As the now rare males began erupting with magical talents, this was considered over and over again by those involved.
Finally one of the scientists in the pharmaceutical company that had developed the treatment found something in one of the protein chains. An odd symbol that resembled the astrological mark for the planet Mercury.
When images of the assassin had been played back, the symbol for "Pluto" had been found in a still frame. Speculation began running wild as this detail went out amonsgst the public.
"Yes!" declared Venus. "Look at that one girl! Popular talk host decides this means a civil war in a magical kingdom spilling out onto Earth!"
"That's really out there you know, Mina-chan," said Mars. "Most of them are coming up with more sinister motives."
"BUT WE'RE THE GOOD GUYS!" declared Venus, kicking Pluto a few more times in the head.
"Well, at least we won't necessarily be shot on sight," said Mercury, who had put that part in for just such a purpose.
Mars nodded. "Yeah, but I'm not sure we're really that much better off."
"It's better than nothing," pointed out Sailor Moon.
Ranma's body had erupted in a sweat that seemed "oily" to the touch, which was actually a relief to all those monitoring his condition. The disease was passing, his immune system had learned to recognize and combat the intruder, and the various drugs could be slowly weaned off of him.
Everyone expected him to have a high level Talent, hence his importance as a target to the assassin. What they didn't know was what that would be, and it would hardly be obvious at this stage. Most manifestations began shortly after the male victim had gotten to the assisted walking stage, so it was still a little while off for the boy.
