Still, they knew to be sure they had to wait warily. If she had been hurt enough, she might be laying on the floor in pain, or dead. However, if she had moved, then it could be a matter of moments before she decided to strike. Of course, it was entirely possible that she'd been turned to dust, or something like that, but that was a remote possibility. And not a whole lot of those there were feeling lucky at the moment.
So they stood there, prepared to fight to stop the woman, no matter what the situation called for. No one was going to take any chances, and despite the fact that several groups that didn't like each other were in close proximity, not a single individual was ready to act on the animosity between each of the factions.
But as the smoke cleared, and it became obvious that there was neither a body, nor a woman in pain there, the question became 'Where is she?'. It was not one with a simple answer, as there wasn't any sign of her. To find any tracks, one would have to take the time to find them, and with the very real possibility that she was out there, no one wanted to do that. Instead, they stood and waited, as they tried to get a sense of the situation.
