Alas, Ranma noticed none of these things. Having picked up the odd bit of jewelry, he immediately set his mind towards more important matters - food! It had been hours since lunch and Kasumi hadn't even start dinner. As he'd just escaped the fiancee horde, he crossed the Ucchan's and Nekohanten off his mental list and went looking for a sukiyaki stand he'd seen while roofhopping.
A few minutes searching tracked the place down, and a few minutes later he was downing some of the better sukiyaki he'd ever had. He'd have complimented the cook if the guy hadn't been looking at him funny. Talk about rude! Some folks just had no manners.
Finishing his quick meal, Ranma started jogging down random streets, finding the exercise preferrable to going directly to the dojo ( especially as Akane might still be mad about earlier). As he traveled he found his mind drifting over his life. Various scenes from his past replayed themselves in his memory; the highs and lows of his sixteen years forming a kaliedoscopic collage which danced around the edges of his conscious mind...
...and on his forhead, a red gem pulsed with an inner life.
