"The fool! You just can't go mucking about like that!" the SRU Wizard shouted suddenly. The whole world hung on a thread.

Rei stood still as the whole world seemed to shift inside of her. She collapsed to one knee, grabbing at the chainlink fence she was next to with a grown. Her red eyes were narrowed in concentration.
"Rei! Are you all right?" Shinji called out to her. He knelt next to her and laid his hand on her shoulder.
Rei's red eyes looked into his Lillian brown eyes.
Deep within Nerv, a gigantic white form hung on its cross. Even thought it was bound to NERV, it was now... aware. But it's soul had been moved to a different location. It's many eyes were open, staring at the lake of LCL formed from its wounds.
In the cages that held the Evangelions, bound souls awoke in their imprisonment. For the EVAs are just Angels without their own souls. And all Angels had been awoken with the activation of the GOD program.
They started to shift their heads, looking around their emplacements.
"Sir! All of the EVAs are functioning!" a technician screamed.
"What? That is impossible! Disengaged all external power immediately. Someone find Dr. Akagi now! Gendo looked at the screen to see all of the EVAs started to look around.
Almost as deep as the crucified figure sat a room with a large tank. It was dark now, but scores of eyes suddenly opened.
Aware.
Awake.
With purpose.

"I am fine, Pilot Akari." Rei said automatically. She had known that she was a clone that contained the soul from the giant. But she had never been aware before. It was not a reality, but an informed fact.
But now she was trule awake.
"Just Shinji, Rei. Friends can call each other by their first names." Shinji let a small smile of relief cross his face. And with that smile, humanity was deemed worthy of one more day.
"Yes... Shinji." Rei let the word drift off her tongue carefully. They were friends. Rei was no longer alone.
And she now knew what that really meant. Her mind was at once in the White Giant, and the clone vats, school, shopping and with someone that cared. Parts of her were very jealous, as they all wished to not be alone. But she was content with even just one part of her being with the human with the smile that cared.

Alarms were blaring all through NERV Headquarters. Reacting with traing, Misato and Ritsuki left Kaji to race to the central command room. They stopped just inside the door, both vowing to find more time to exercise.
"Major Katsuragi, Dr. Akagi. It is good to... see you again. I will let security know that you have turned up." Gendo said, with not even a slight hint of a smile showing.
"What's the situation?" Misato asked.
"The Second Child has become changed in some manner. She is currently 150 kilometers above the Pacific. Under her own power. The EVAs appear to be going beserk. We must take control of the situation. Do you understand?"
Ritsuki pursed her lips thoughtfully. She slid into a computer terminal and started to bring up information. "I show an Alpha thought process active in all EVAs. They are awake, for lack of a better term."
Gendo suddenly sat up more stiffly. "Can they hear?"
"I think so. They do have ears and audio sensors." The blonde doctor looked at her commander questioningly.
Gendo stood up suddenly. "I will attempt to take charge of the situation personally."
