Fire and Water. Right now she'd just have the 'base access' but training her up would give her some good control of her elements. The Professor was well familiar with the process, though the exact mechanism remained outside his knowledge.
How did an Ice type like an Oyuki gather water molecules together and impede their molecular jostling so that their ice attack was unleashed? How did a fire type like that young trainer's Hikaru seem to spontaneously generate bursts of flame? He could analyze the ionic field and how the molecules along a path grew more agitated in a rapid fractal cascade to produce that flameburst - but how did the pokegirl generate that field?
There were some who called it 'psionics' or 'magic' or simply used the 'AT Field' - but that was simply putting a label on it that meant 'unknown' and failed to explain HOW.
That the pokegirls were necessary at this stage of the game was obvious, but it would have been nice to understand the how and why of them. So much mystery, and while it DID provide some job security, the Professor was frustrated by how he kept running into more questions whenever he was looking for answers.
Ah, several of those who'd been turned away were going over their career choices. Looked like Sakaki had put in for Pokegirl Nurse training. Hmmm. Gary wanted to see more of the world and had applied for Explorer Corps. Hikaru had put in for Grave Digger. No surprise there.
Ah, Ash was looking over his options.
Explorer Corps was one of them. Not too surprising. Putting in a term with the Scouts would allow him to grow up, figure out what he was good at, and perform a useful service for the community. There was still a lot of things about this world that were unknown and it was the Explorers who filled in the details on those incomplete satellite maps.
Militia. Firefighting, rescue operations, and adventures aplenty there. The difference with being a member of the Explorer Corps was that he'd be stationed to a specific community, have a house and regular time off, that sort of thing. No chance of striking it rich with an alien find, but it had its perks.
Transport? Joining up with one of the merchant groups and using a wagon to haul things from town to town? Misty just didn't look strong enough to be able to haul things for miles, but she might be an asset when it came to travel along waterways with a ship instead.
What was this - Ash was deciding already? That was fast.
