"PEGGY!" Harriet shouted again as the light seemed to glint off the knife.
Suddenly, the knife jerked away from Peggy's throat. A soft glow surrounded it. The young girl was knocked off her feat as the would be rapist was suddenly jerked forward as he tried to keep the knife in his grip. He was nearly dragged from his feet out the closet.
Suzan just made a squeaking noise and backed up rapidly. Suddenly, the knife jerked again, imbedding itself into his own arm. With a wrench, he pulled it out. The knife seemed to twist in his hand and tried to stab him again. With a grunt, he managed to catch it with both hands, all the while howling like a wounded animal.
A small crowd started to gather. A few children and parents, along with some teens that had made it a day on their own. They watched in macabre fascination as the man fought against his knife.
The children screamed as the sweating man lost control of the knife for one moment. It almost looked as if he stabbed himself in the gut. It was made all the more surreal by his swearing.
"Stop it! STOP IT! STOP!" Harriet suddenly screamed. Suddenly every bit of glass within fifty feet shattered explosively.
Unnoticed by anyone, the knife quit trying to kill the rapist.
Suddenly, several snapping and cracking sounds occurred as men in dark cloaks appeared.
