Prince Ranma: Joining In [Episode 123840]

by Kender

Nuke Usagimaru had seen a lot over his years of reporting. He'd been to all sorts of places all over the world, and had reported on everything from wars, to natural disasters, to major international events. It was enough to cause him to believe that he'd seen it all, though the sights on Citadel Kirby had definately disabused him of that notion. Still, he'd been sure that nothing would surprise him anymore, especially with the lessons he'd so recently recieved.

But he'd never seen a lithe human-looking girl simply... shift and turn into something out of a fantasy novel.

"I'd really think that it'd be a good idea to be very careful who you insult here," he muttered to the man next to him.

The cameraman nodded his agreement, but kept his lens following the oddly graceful flight of something that big.

For once in her life, Ryoko Mitsurugi found herself agreeing with something she was sure that the pain in her backside, Shizuma Kusanagi would have said. These fights were really no fun, at least for the most part. She'd fought against gang members that would put up more of a fight, but she'd managed to prove that she could run through a crowd of thugs and take them out without using more than one strike per thug. But even though being able to hit multiple bad guys with a single attack sounded good, it got rather dull if one didn't have something to help spice things up.

That was why she'd been glad that she'd been able to face a few real fighters. Those challenges had been enough to get the juices flowing, and she'd had the chance to actually have battles. However, she wanted a challenge where she could actually fight. She wanted to really get into it, as much as that neanderthal Kusanagi would have, though she'd kill him herself before admitting it to the moron.

The sounds of a really big battle caught her ear and she smiled. If nothing else, this journey was proving to be one of excitement and challenge. Even if she didn't marry the prince, she might not mind coming to this place again.

Of course, the fact that some nice old guy had given her the sword that she had sheathed at her hip.

Right now though, there was something important going on, and she wanted to aid in the battle, so she ran as quickly as she could.

Despite the fact Ranma truly wanted his subjects to live in peace and prosperity, he did so enjoy a true fight. That didn't mean that he wanted to just be able to trade blows with an opponent. He liked a nice knockdown, drag out fight, so that he would be challenged to win the battle and survive. Growing up with the tales of heros facing impossible odds was part of the cause, but he simply liked to combat danger and win. Not that he was reckless by any means, but to be able to succeed in such a situation did help his pride, and his knowledge that he was actually doing something.

Unfortunately, one of the major problems that he saw with such a struggle was that people got hurt. Soldiers would get injured in the midst of battle, and any civilians that accidentally got in the way could possibly be casualties.

Such was the case at the moment, as he saw a group of soldiers get cornered by the spider. It was going after them, and no one was close enough to help them. As such, they were not going to be sleeping their beds that night.

At least, that was the case before a cone of fire blasted into the side of the spider, and just over the heads of the men. They ducked and ran for cover while the construct was rocked back by the blast. Smoke and debris were blown up by the hit, but when it cleared, one could see that the intended victims were long gone.

Along with several others, he looked up for the source of the attack, and was not disappointed. Soaring majestically over the battlefield was the shape of a dragon. As it glided around, it spread its wings and sent a challenging roar at the construct, leaving no doubt as to why it was there.

And it neatly landed next to Ranma, positioning itself to stand at his side.

"I like the approach," he murmured with a smirk as:
