The centipede-thing reacted remarkably fast to Inuyasha's bid for Kagome to recover the Shikon jewel. Kagome was caught up in the creature's coils. It squeezed tightly, which would thoroughly trap a girl of normal strength. She was also pressed up against Inuyasha.
"HeH hEH heh HEH," chuckled Mistress Centipede, scrutinizing her two prisoners. "'InuYAsha wHO sEEks THe SHIKon jeWEL...' i HAve heARD oF A hanYOU of SUCh a nAMe..."
Kagome glanced up at Inuyasha.
"Don't insult me, Mistress Centipede," said the white-haired youth confidently. "If I'd wanted, our meeting would've been very short... and your last."
Kagome narrowed her eyes. "You talk big, Mr. Inuyasha, but can you back it up? To me, you seem to be all talk."
"ThE HUman'S RIght, hANyou..." Mistress Centipede snickered. "you CAn'T MoVE, CAn yoU? QUITe an IMPresSiVE spELL You'RE UndEr..."
"FEH! Nothing your ugly face can't break!" Inuyasha growled back.
"Will you two quit talking trash and get on with it?" Kagome asked in a bored tone.
"THe giRL's riGHT. FurTHEr tAlk IS pOIntLEss," Mistress Centipede agreed, extending her long tongue. "ALl yoU CAn do NOw... iS WAtch!" With that, Mistress Centipede slurped up the Shikon jewel and gulped it down.
The next few minutes brought a transformation onto Mistress Centipede. Her arms reattached to her body where they'd been blown off. Then, her eyes glowed red, and she burst out of her skin like an obscene butterfly emerging from the cocoon. Her bulging eyes and lipless mouth exposing a row of sharp pointy teeth was a sight terrible to behold. "SuCH poWER... SUCh JOY!!" moaned Mistress Centipede, tongue extending out.
Power surged through the monster centipede's body, and each of the segments swelled, compressing both Inuyasha and Kagome like a boa constrictor.
"Hey. This arrow... Can you remove it?" asked the dog-boy.
Kagome blinked, then reached up to grab the shaft of the arrow sticking out of Inuyasha's chest.
"YOU MUST NOT!!" came an aged and alarmed shout from Lady Kaede. "The arrow contains the spell! You must not set him free!"
"What do you want, witch!?" asked Inuyasha, just as loudly and as curtly, "To become that bug's dessert?! Once she absorbs all of the Shikon Jewel's power, none of us will be able to stop her!" Inuyasha looked into Kagome's eyes. "Well, girl? You want to die here with me?"
