Inuyasha was torn between something within him pleading for him to put an end to Yura's misery, and the desire to stay the hell out of Kagome's warpath. Finally, thought, human/youkai decency won out, and he went off searching for the red skull with Yura's soul-comb in it. It took a while, for there were a helluva lot of skulls in the pile to search through.
*POP-POP-POPPITY-POP!*
"pweeze hurry, inu-chan…" whined Yura pitifully. "she twying ta make a cwain owigami outta me…"
'Crane origami'? Sounds painful, Inuyasha thought as he redoubled his efforts to find the elusive red skull. He did at last find it, after several minutes of searching amidst a backdrop of Yura's mewling for mercy and puffed rice sound effects.
With a single bash, he crushed the skull, and crushed the fragile soul-comb within. Yura immediately began to dissolve into mist in Kagome's hands, leaving nothing but her clothes. Inuyasha caught a glimpse of her smiling in bliss before vanishing completely into thin air.
Kagome blinked at her empty hands. Then frowned, standing to face Inuyasha. "Inuyasha…" growled the marionette, cracking her knuckles. She hadn't worked out the anger she felt over having her precious oden spilled over the ground by Yura's actions, and Inuyasha had just volunteered for the—
*WARNING: INTERNAL TEMPERATURE LIMIT EXCEEDED*
*EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN INITIATED*
Suddenly, the green glow around Kagome and in her eyes died. Indeed, the light in her eyes died as well, becoming glassy. Her arms fell limply to her sides and her head lolled slightly, and she stood, as still as a statue.
"Kagome?" Inuyasha asked, but inwardly relieved.
*ENGAGING COOLING CYCLE*
With a click-whirr, her hands dropped by about an inch. Then the sleeves along her upper arms swelled in the center. The weak stitching in the two easy-tear panels in her sleeves ripped away, revealing that her upper arms now popped out like a pair of flippers. The advanced workings of the saber marionette were clearly visible within the gap opened up.
*psssshhhhhh…*
Inuyasha jumped back from his inspection with a startled yipe. Billowy clouds of hot vapor spewed from the gap. It continued for about a second before it stopped, and the should panels retracted and the arms shortened up. Nothing was left of the openings in her arms but the usual seams that were always there.
Kagome stood there, still and lifeless. "Kagome?" Inuyasha asked. "KAGOME!" he repeated, shaking her by the shoulders. Kagome's face, however, was still the vision of blankness.
