"Atmospheric scans seem to suggest that the environment is safe, though CO2 and nitrogen levels are slightly higher then normal," Major Carter paused, watching Daniel set up the projector. "Further scans indicate, however, that oxygen levels were rising steadily. Possibly because the chamber where the Gate is located might have been opened recently."
General Hammond glanced at the report, seeming to consider what was said. "To be on the safe side, some oxygen masks and tanks will be provided," he said, turning to team's linguistic expert. "Anything else we should know about, Dr. Jackson?"
Daniel spared a brief nod at the general as he dimmed the room's lights. "These were taken by the M.A.L.P. earlier," he indicated to the slides, pausing on a set of glyphs. "While most of the writing we photographed didn't match up to any language we've encountered thus far, Teal'c pointed out that these were the most familiar."
"From childhood, Jaffa are taught to fear the creatures depicted on that wall," the resident alien explained, calmly adding, "Though we were also told was if we ever encounter them, we were to destroy them on sight or perish trying."
"So you are saying that whatever those things are, just might be enemies of the Goa'uld?" Hammond asked, interrupting whatever Daniel was going to say.
"It's a possibility," conceded Daniel, only to be interrupted again.
"It was one of the few times I've seen a Goa'uld show anything but arrogance," Teal'c said, calmly watching Daniel rub his forehead in minor frustration.
General Hammond nodded, "That's a good enough reason as far as I know to try to learn more of this planet. SG-1 will suit up and head to the Embarkation room in one hour. Dismissed."
"Yes, sir," replied O'Neill and Carter, with a silent nod by Teal'c, and a quiet "Right..." by Daniel.
