Eve coughed and waved her hand before her face in a vain attempt to clear her vision. As if mocking them, the cloud of dust obscuring the teams' vision only thickened as a fresh breeze flowed into the ancient chamber.
"It will take a while to set the generators up," one of the aides said, his voice muffled as he covered his mouth to keep from inhaling. "We should have lights set up in here as soon as they're ready."
Eve nodded absently, aiming her flashlight at the murals along the wall. "Amazing," she muttered, barely loud enough for the others to hear. They all turned towards what she saw and were as surprised by their team leader. Despite the millennia of filth built up by the chamber's sealing, a single depiction on the mural could still be seen.
On the wall were paintings of an army of creatures, recognized as early forms of pokémon. What really surprised them were the three prominent pokémon leading the army: A golden and a silver bird flanking an emerald dragon. The army were lined up against a lone figure, standing in the center of a giant ring.
The figure was depicted with long fangs, exposed from the evil sneer curling his lips. His long, upturned nose and wild, serpentine hair; along with the stripe running down his face, further adding to his inhuman features.
But what really excited Eve was the object held in the figure's hand. An object immediately recognized from a dig months ago (and one that she and her colleagues would have preferred to forget).
"It can't be," muttered one of the others, though Eve was too excited to confirm who. "It looks like... a pokéball!"
Eve smile widened, gazing intently on the mural. "Tell them to set those generators quickly," she ordered. "We need lights here as soon as possible so we can explore the rest of the temple."
There was a collective murmur of agreement among the group. This was the find of the century... no, in the history of archeology!
Little did they realize, the very view of history itself will soon be turned on its head.
