Thunder Ken: Siblings Solitare [Episode 131947]

by Kender

Ranma was so close to his sister that he'd always been able to know how she'd react to something without having to think about it. Years of experience combined with the sort of connection that only the closest of siblings ever got made for his ability, and he'd always felt comfortable with that. She had made it rather easy though, as she had never hidden anything from him until recently, and before that he would never have thought that she could keep something from him at all. His sister had been the girl who'd blushed when she was embarrassed, cared for him when he was sick, and never been one to really go for major shows of any type.

That made it rather hard to take the fact that he was now looking at her shoulders as they shook with the great gulping sobs that she was giving off. He'd always tried to protect her from that sort of experience, and had always thought that he'd hurt anyone who made her do that. But this time it was him who'd done that to her, and even if he was hurt that she'd kept secrets from him, and had put herself into danger, the knowledge that he'd done this to her was making him feel like a heel.

"Ami..?" he trailed off, uncertain of what the situation called for. "I..."

"Why do you always have to do this? Always having to running off, leaving me to wonder how you're doing?" his sister whispered brokenly. "You're always putting yourself in harm's way. I didn't want to keep secrets, but I couldn't let you fight this time... How... Why couldn't I just be the one to protect you this time..?"

"You wanted..."

"I don't want you hurt for me... I don't!"

Mars watched the exchange and gave it a grim look. She knew that this had probably been a long time in coming, possibly even before they had met the siblings. Now things were coming to a head, and she wasn't quite sure what they should do about it. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Jupiter looking torn between trying to protect her friend, and acknowledging that she might have done the same as he had, if the flicking of her eyes were any indication. On the other hand, Venus seemed ready to jump in with both feet.

But a hand on her arm stopped her, and the Senshi of Love turned to the one holding her. "Sailor Moon?"

"Don't," the reincarnated princess said with a shake of her head.

"What are you saying? We have to..."

"Let them handle it. I want to help Ami-chan as much as you do, but they need to do this themselves."

"I just..," the other blonde muttered, "I want to do something..."

"We all do. But not right now, okay?"

For a moment, Venus looked mulish, but the understanding look that Moon gave her sapped away any fight. "Yeah... okay..."

"Good. Ami-chan? Ranma-kun? We'll be there if you need us."

"Umm..," 'Thor' murmured before he looked at the still hunched shoulders of his sister. "Sure."

"Oh? And please be as kind as you can. She means a lot to us, and you mean a lot to her."

"Well..."

Sailor Moon gave him a soft look before turning and leading the Senshi, save Mercury away while:
