Kasumi was almost home from her visit to the market when she spied a vaguely familiar boy, who was holding a bokken, standing in front of the gate. "Excuse me, you're one of Nabiki's friends, aren't you?"
"Verily though I do know the mercenary Nabiki Tendo I am here to prevent the tragedy of justice which is destined to occur when Ranma Saotome espies my one true love, the fierce tigress Akane Tendo. He shall lay no claim upon her beauty, for such thing is reserved for my own august personage. Thus I shall remonstrate with him and he shall fear the wrath of the Shooting Star of Furinkan High, Tatewaki Kuno."
Kasumi smiled at Kuno, "Oh, I didn't know Akane was seeing anyone."
"Yes, I have challenged the beauteous Akane and every morning we doth engage in fierce combat to show our feelings for each other."
Kasumi processed this for a few seconds, "Are you sure Akane," she paused, "enjoys these fights?"
Kuno smiled as he gazed into his memories, "Nothing brings me greater joy than to see my tigress' flushed face and heaving bosom after one of our little matches." A bit of drool escaped Kuno's mouth, "I treasure every blow that she lands upon my body and often as I am dragged to the nurse's office I have no greater wish than to stand proudly erect and show proof of my love to the whole school."
Kasumi almost frowned, 'I'm going to have to have The Talk with Akane. It's really not proper to be playing these sorts of games, especially in public.' For a brief moment she felt a pang of longing for her mother. As the feeling passed she made her goodbyes to Kuno, "It has been pleasant talking with you Kuno-san. However, I must go inside to prepare dinner for our guests. It is several hours until the Saotome's are supposed to arrive. Would you like anything to drink while you wait?"
Kuno looked briefly surprised at the courtesy, "Yes, thank you. If I could trouble you for a glass of water it would be appreciated."
"It's no trouble." As Kasumi entered the house she reflected on how fortuitous the rain last night was in delaying the Saotomes. It gave her a chance to go shopping and prepare a special meal for tonight. It wasn't every night you met your potential fiance.
A couple hours later, after school let out, Akane and Nabiki stopped when they saw Kuno standing outside the gate. "What's he doing here?" Akane growled.
"Probably waiting for Ranma." Nabiki tsked at her little sister, "You really shouldn't have told the whole school about the engagement and how you weren't going to get engaged. Just think how embarrassed you'll be if you end up with our fiance."
"I not marrying some stupid boy!" yelled Akane. She was really getting fed up with this. All anyone at school could talk about was how she was getting engaged, despite all her denials. "And how come you're not worried? What if he's some perverted jerk?"
"I'm sure I could convince Daddy to drop the engagement if Ranma turns out to be a dud." Nabiki smirked, "And you shouldn't yell stuff like that too loudly, Sis, you'll make the rumours worse." Nabiki breezed past Kuno with an ignored, "Let me know when Ranma arrives Kuno-baby." She shook her head as she heard Kuno's exclamation of love followed by the sounds of violence behind her. After announcing her entrance to her home she followed her nose to the kitchen. "Wow, you pulled out all the stops tonight, Sis."
"Well it is a special occasion, Nabiki." Kasumi tasted something simmering on the stove, "Did Akane come home with you?"
"Yeah, she's just letting off some steam and showing Kuno how she feels about him."
Kasumi frowned, "Nabiki, you shouldn't be encouraging Akane. She shouldn't be playing those kind of games, and in public no less." Kasumi nervously wrung her apron as Nabiki's eyes widened as she figured out what Kasumi was talking about. Kasumi sighed, "I'm going to have to give her The Talk."
Nabiki desperately tried to hold her mirth in, "Just let me know when you plan to do it Kasumi, I'd like to help." It was too much for her, she had to get away, "I'll be in my room if you need me." Nabiki fled to her room where she collapsed into gales of laughter.
