But nothing came out and said why he was now suddenly part of a teenaged girl on a colony world, with his time long past. In fact, she saw no action, right up until the end of Ryoga's memories. Those stopped oddly though, as he'd been travelling through a mountain range, only to find the ground giving out below him... And if she didn't know better, it'd be like he had died there.
That realisation had shaken her, as she knew that it had been one of the ways that he'd been afraid of dying. It wasn't during a fight, or of old age. Instead, it was a lonely accident, with his propensity for getting lost making it impossible for anyone to find him even if it was just to know that he'd been hurt.
However, there a sort of... 'upside' to that, since it meant that she could not be him. But his memory of religion did help come up with a possibility that had worked with him passing from his life.
She was his reincarnation. Just why he would become a fourteen year old, she didn't know. Yet, it did fit. One of the religions did speak of such things, and when he'd died, his spirit had been passed to her. Not that she minded... much. It did explain her temper, if such things could be 'inherited'. And that was a better explaination than to think that she'd been possessed by some boy, or something like that.
Still, it was a bit freaky to think that she had been an angry boy with an inability to look at feminine flesh, and to find any proper direction in a previous life.
"Are you sure that you're okay?" Katie asked.
"Huh?" Ryoko grunted, and then looked sheepishly at her friend. "Sorry..."
"I was just wondering... You were spacing out there for a moment."
"Well... You ever have your life flash before your eyes?"
"Not really... But from a soccer ball?"
"Sort of. It was just wierd... I'm fine. Really," Ryoko said reassuringly.
"Are you sure?"
"As sure as I can be. Though I have a killer headache..."
"I'd think that you would..," her friend said with a roll of her eyes.
Giving a shrug back, Ryoko tried not to notice that the part of her from Ryoga was shying away from the fact that she was a girl in a skirt, while:
