"Great," said Ash unenthusiastically. "She's a morning person."
"She certainly has energy," agreed Ash's mother Cordellia. "So where are you going first?"
"Viridian," answered Ash. "That's where my equipment and assignment is coming from, the Explorer Corps over there."
Cordellia looked over her son and then directed her attention back to the girl out there. "She's very close to human in appearance."
"Yeah," said Ash. "The Professor said she's a rare type and he was going to have to research a bit more to find out what kind of pokegirl she is."
"Remember that you'll have to be the responsible party for her," pointed out Cordellia. "She'll learn language skills rapidly, though most learn within hours and she still sounds a little inexperienced."
"Some take longer," Ash assured his mother. "She's still got so much to learn."
"Be sure you teach her well," repeated Cordellia. "If you teach her any bad habits while she's impressionable -"
Ash winced. "Mom! I know all that."
"Urrrr?" asked Misty, approaching.
"And I need you to keep an eye on Ash," Cordellia informed the redheaded girl. "He's often lazy and indecisive-"
"Mom?" said Ash, wincing.
"-he's impulsive and he binge-eats -"
"Mom?" said Ash, still wincing.
"-he has no fashion sense at all-"
"Mom?!"
"-if you gave him the chance he'd eat nothing but junk food-"
"..."
"And he's got a really bad habit of-"
"OKAY MOM!"
Cordellia glanced at her son but continued to address Misty. "-but he's got a good heart and doesn't have a problem with working hard. If he starts something he always finishes it. He'll need someone to watch him. So it's up to you to keep an eye on him!"
"Yah!" said Misty, nodding so rapidly she apparently gave herself a headache.
Ash watched his pokegirl stagger back, wincing and rubbing her forehead. "Why do I have a feeling I'm going to regret this?"
She stood in the forest and affirmed her goals. Mainly to herself but she did it aloud because she felt she needed to. "I am Hikaru Gosunkugi! I will make my own mark on the world and take whatever my strength allows me to take!"
Kodachi shrugged and went back to her Communion - her mind reaching out to the local plant life. Branches shifted and moved, weaving together to form a canopy.
"Not bad," said Gosunkugi, the dark girl eyeing the shelter as it formed.
Kodachi nodded in acknowledgement. "We travel at night, sleep day?"
"Yes, the night is my element, I am the Queen Of The Night!" proclaimed Hikaru.
"Then I will root during day," said Kodachi.
"Of course, I am your mistress after all! I was clever enough to fool those childish psychological tests they use to screen the rabble," said Hikaru. "Our next step is to link up with Team Rocket as pokethieves."
"We are to be 'pokethieves'?" asked Kodachi, continuing to work.
"Only until we have accomplished our aims with them, then we will betray them. This is the way of the world, the weak ally themselves with the strong, and when we become strong we will prey upon the weak. The weak are prey, the strong predators, it is the natural order," said Hikaru with a frown. "We'll also look for any wild pokegirls. Once you defeat them and I can capture and train them - we will have an edge on other groups. Now, go root yourself or whatever it is you do."
"I have discovered something Jessie."
"What's that, James?"
"Walking everywhere sucks serious wind, Jessie."
"You think so? I've got high heel boots!"
"I don't mind it," said the feline member of the trio.
"What we need is some form of transportation," said James.
"Something unusual and that we can use to surprise victims with, but allow ourselves quick getaways," speculated Jessie.
"Huh," said Meowth. "I wonder where we can get somethin' like that? Maybe a boat or somethin'?"
"I don't know," said James. "Look, over there is a dirigible making factory. They've got to have something to haul things with, so maybe we can steal some bicycles or something."
