Thunder Ken: Family Squabbles [Episode 133769]

by Kender

Normally Sailor Mercury was the most calm of people, but when something involved her family, she was naturally defensive. However, her naturally logical self could not be surpressed, and she knew that simply yelling would not solve anything, and possibly would lead to a situation that certainly would result in the same sort of hurts that their parents had gone through.

So she tried a different slightly different tack, even if she couldn't quite let her initial reaction go. "But I've never been able to help in one of your fights either."

"What of mine fights?" Thor asked with a frown.

"I told you before. You have always been fighting and getting rid of my problems for me. Remember that bully when I started school? He caused me trouble, but you came racing in to beat him up for it."

"Didst thou think that I would abandon thee?"

"No, and that's not the point. You have always been the big protector, and I've always had to worry about you getting into trouble or getting hurt. And this time I could be the one to keep you safe. Why shouldn't I take that opportunity?"

"For a reason that would be both simple and clear. Thou ist not a fighter, nor have thou ever been one."

"Oh..," she allowed with a wince. "You have a point there."

"It does me good to see that thou hast seen some sense."

"Hey! Who's the one who's already been hurt in those fights that he's been running off to?"

Thor growled deep in his throat. "Hast thou realised that mine skills and training hast kept me from being injured, and that thou ist not as capable a warrior? And that does not help your cause when you have already proven to have lied to thine own brother when everything had once been open."

"But if I told you, you'd have been worried and I didn't want to scare you or Mom over this."

"So you would have the two of us find solace in the knowledge that you were hurt and we could not know where or how?"

"Of course not! But I was supposed to keep it a secret!"

"What fool decided that? How could there be a reason not to inform those who care about you of your cause?"

"Well... They... If we did what we were supposed to, no one else would ever have to know."

"And if you failed to succeed in your self-appointed task?" her brother asked.

"Then we'd be having to worry about more than just that."

"Wouldst that be so? And did it not come into thine mind that if I had known, I could have at least trained thou and thy friends in the arts of the warrior? Or that I could have brought my own skills into the battle."

"And you would have gotten hurt!"

"Then it would have been the choice that I had made. Instead, I had to suffer the bliss of ignorance. You should have made haste in informing me of this new chapter in your life."

"Then why don't we just tell everyone?!" Mercury demanded, feeling a bit frustrated, "And we can tell Mom about how I got this dropped onto me, while you ran out and grabbed the first power that you could find, no matter how dangerous it might be!"

"Hmm... Perhaps that wouldst be a fine concept."

"Pardon me?"

"If our mother is to be properly briefed, then she can handle anything that may happen to us better than your plan to leave her in the darkness of ignorance."

'But I didn't really mean it..,' she thought helplessly to herself. "You can't be serious!"

"Ah, but in that, you are wrong. This is such that I will not be swayed. Our parent will receive word of what has transpired in her children's lives," Thor said with great conviction, looking at his sister as if to challenge her to make a rebuttal while:
