"Mine eyes have seen the glory of Akane Tendo and know that it is my sublime duty to stand away from her preordained Fated Romance with Ranma Saotome!" Kodachi answered, retracting her left snake-hand in order to gesture dramatically. "I know now that I could never hold so much as a candle's brilliance to Akane - and therefore it is my duty to devote my life to guarding the only true couple - Akane and Ranma."
Ukyo nodded. "Oooookay. And how did you come to this... revelation, sugar?"
Kodachi's eyes were bright as she spoke, the two serpent heads she had for hands adding their own sibilant chorus. "The great and noble Akane did take her true form as a most puissant dragon of scarlet and used the very curse that she'd laid to smite down her Ranma's philandering ways to make of me a suitable guardian of the True Romance."
"uh-huh. right." Ukyo hated coming in during the middle of an adventure, she always found herself wanting someone around to give expository dialogue. All she knew was that something weirder than usual was going on, and apparently Ranma was at the center. There had been that flyer about someone kissing Ranma to bring him out of a coma, but details hadn't exactly been doled out.
Unlimbering her main spatula, Ukyo prepared for the next move from the snake-woman. "By the way, Kodachi-san, have you looked in a mirror lately?"
Kodachi frowned as a serpent's thrust was blocked by that girl's metal weapon. "No. Why?"
Ukyo had run across several legends dealing with monsters. Some could be defeated by forcing them to come across their own reflection. "You're makeup is smudged."
"What?" Kodachi started looking for a mirror. How could she face her mistress at less than her closest to perfection state?
Ukyo snuck past the snake-woman, thankful that additional smarts hadn't been given with the transformation. Now all she had to do was sneak out this door, down this hallway, creep past this net trap, out this other door, and she was...
