Akane had always had more difficulty than her sisters, both when it came to planning, and to thinking about sexually explicit situations. So it was hardly surprising that when she decided to stop her prospective fiancee from entering a public make out park while he was planning their future dates, she acted without considering the full consequences of her actions.
So, when she burst into the park, running at full speed, dressed in her martial arts gi, she caused quite a stir.
Twilight had just descended over the park, and the lampposts were flickering on, providing patches of light, and deepening the shadows between them. Couples wandered through the park, gazing across the small ornamental pond, or claiming park benches where they could become better acquainted in the peace and quiet.
So a sprinting martial artist was bound to stand out, even if they didn't know that she was looking for an invisible houseguest. It was enough to alert Police Constable Kei Sutoun that he'd be required to keep the peace.
Unfortunately, the sight of so many people making out, and in ways that would be considered shocking if they were anywhere else than here, their bedrooms, or a love hotel was having a detrimental effect on Akane. Combining this with the daily attempts of hordes of boys trying to beat her up to take her to a place like this, and it was little wonder that Akane was feeling rather jumpy. So when the Kei Sutoun cop jumped out and grabbed her forearm, she could be excused for using a judo throw that sent him flying through the air.
If either of them had been less stubborn, that might have been the last they ever saw of each other. But after Akane had fled the cop to the other half of the park, she went back to looking for Ranma. But the risk of being spotted by the police officer weighed on her thoughts, plus the even greater worry that he might recognize her and tell someone else that he saw her here! What would her friends at school think? What if it was reported to her father? She'd never live it down!
She needed a disguise. Unfortunately she was a bit short on resources. Still, all she had to do was prevent anyone from recognizing her from a distance. So she took an idea from the traditional peeping tom or panty thief. She removed her undershirt from under her gi top, and carefully cinched it closed so that no one would accidentally see her bra. Then she tied the shirt around her head to disguise her face, and hide her long hair.
Now, confident that she wouldn't be recognized, she could search the park.
P. C. Kei Sutoun was too good a police officer to allow being thrown ten feet into a bush to stop him from maintaining the peace. Besides, it wasn't likely that the troublemaker had stayed around after assaulting a police officer. The park seemed quiet enough.
But when he spotted a peeping tom, dressed in a martial arts gi, and peering through the foliage, he sprang into action and attempted to arrest the perpetrator. He was able to shout "You're nicked!" before Akane reversed his grip, and sent him skidding across the lawn.
Akane, of course, ran for it, not caring when a tree branch caught on her, and pulled her long hair out of its concealment. When she had managed to pause for breath, she re-cinched her clothes, and re-secured her disguise, but didn't bother to hide her long hair.
Meanwhile, Kei Sutoun radioed headquarters. "P.C. Sutoun to base. Report two incidents of minor difficulty with martial artist peeping toms in Koisukebe Park. The incidents may be related. Please advise. Over."
"Base to P.C. Sutoun; what makes you think they're related? Over."
"Both individuals wore similar clothes, were scouting different parts of the park, and used throws to avoid capture. They may be isolated incidents, or part of something organized. Over."
"We're overstretched at the moment, so we aren't in a position to send backup without a solid reason. But if you see any more indications, radio in before trying to make an arrest, and we'll send full backup. Over."
"Understood. P.C. Sutoun signing out."
Of course it wasn't long before Kei Sutoun cop spotted Akane in disguise, but with her long hair flowing. He immediately pulled out his radio. "P.C. Sutoun to base. P.C. Sutoun to base. Koisukebe Park is overrun by female peeping tom martial artists! I don't know how many of them there are! The shit has hit the fan! Tell my wife I love her! Over!"
Kuno was pacing his room, deep in thought. Or at least as deep in thought as he could manage. Finally, he called out for the person against which he always bounced his ideas off of, when he had trouble keeping it all straight in his head. "Sasuke!"
Suddenly the tatami mat behind him flipped up, and the diminutive ninja sprang to his master's attention, causing Kuno to leap away in fright, though he would have strenuously denied the accusation. "Arrg! Don't do that!"
"You wanted to speak to me, Master?"
"Come, Sasuke. I have a problem. While it is obvious that Saotome is no direct danger to my pursuit of Akane, even going so far to say he is a positive asset, still may he cause indirect danger without intending it."
Sasuke worried internally. Kuno was still focused on that other boy. At least he was still committed to Akane Tendo. "How so, my lord?"
"Is it not obvious? While I dress in the traditional costume of the kendoka, Akane spends her time surrounded by a peacock with excellent fashion sense! And while he would never pursue a relationship, she might find my outfits drab in comparison. Granted, his fashion sense might exceed mine, but I can not afford to make a poor showing lest I lose by comparison."
"So, what do you plan to do?"
"I can not decide! Do I go for the shirtless leather biker look, or a hakama designed in shades of plum?"
Meanwhile, and open-topped car carrying eleven police officers and a ladder pull up to the park. The police officer that was holding onto the end of the ladder was, of course, thrown clear by the sudden braking and landed into the bushes.
And Akane was still looking for Ranma in the park, having forgotten in all of the confusion that he had left the house invisibly. And while she was just following her prospective fiancee, she had managed to get to the park three hours before he would show up. She had followed him really really fast.
