"If Kyle is lost, how can we fight Solaris?" Batman thought.
Turning, he typed in some information into the bat-computer.
"The truck that Oliver Queen and Hal Jordan used to do their cross-country trip. I wonder. I'll have Wally check it out."
Calling Wally up, Batman told him what he wanted and to go to Kyle's apartment to get the Power Battery. Living up to his hero name: The Flash, Wally returned to the Watchtower with a power ring and Kyle's battery within a minute.
"You were right about the power ring, Batman. I also have Kyle's lantern," Wally said over the communications link.
Batman said, "Have J'onn hide those on Mars and disguise them as a chunk of Kryptonite."
Flash replied, "Okay. But, what about Kyle?"
"I'm looking in to it," Batman replied curtly, and cut the connection.
Batman sat back in his chair. "So Hal gave Oliver a power ring just in case he lost his. We're covered as far as Solaris goes. As to Kyle, what to do about him being lost?"
Batman stood up and headed for the Batmobile. "For now, nothing can be done. Maybe it was supposed to turn out like this after all."

In a pocket of sub-dimensional space, Ganthet the last Guardian looked upon the Earth, sensing the loss of Kyle Rayner. Using his abilities, he heard what Hourman had said about Kyle being lost and then Batman saying that nothing could be done.
"I refuse to accept this. The light of the Green Lantern Corps was not supposed to go out."
Ganthet quickly discarded the idea of retrieving the lantern and ring from Mars. "Let them stay there if it puts some of the heroes minds at ease."
The last Guardian appeared at the remains of Oa. Shaking his head at what had happened, he used his power to pull the planet back together and bring the Book of Oa to rest on a mountainside. Of course Oa didn't have an atmosphere. Ganthet landed near the Book of Oa, with a glowing nimbus surrounding him
Ganthet focused his power upon the giant book. "Show me what happened to Kyle Rayner."
The pages of the Book of Oa flipped and a picture of a green comet appeared on one of the pages. Ganthet read the entry and closed the book with a giant pair of glowing green hands.
Looking at the lifeless world, Ganthet took in the wrecked scenery. "I really should break the planet back apart to protect Guardian secrets. But right now, I need a base to figure out how to break the dimensional barrier to retrieve Kyle Rayner. I'm not going to bother that alternate timeline."
Ganthet tossed a small pyramid onto the ground. The pyramid started flashing blue and green and waves of air spread from it.
"In a few days, the atmosphere will be back to where it was before the destruction. Now I need to figure out whom to use for the rescue mission. Guy Gardner may not be the best choice, but he is very loyal to his friends, and Kyle is one of his friends. John Stewart does have those abilities that Parallax gave him. He can protect Sector 2814 in Kyle's absence."
